How would you show a default avatar for those users who don't have one but still only show any avatars if the user doesn't have the show avatars box checked in their user options?

Zachery

avatar.gif is ment to be replaced by whatever you want you can leave it as avatar.gif as long as you have an image called avatar.gif in your root forum directoyr

it worked, but there is a problem

http://www.macshrine.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2233#post2233

if you look at my site there, the avatarrs are on top. i am using rc2 vb3

I get this error when I try to add this to the postbit template

The following error occurred when attempting to evaluate this template:

Parse error: parse error, expecting `T_STRING' or `T_VARIABLE' or `T_NUM_STRING' in /home/ryanmcba/public_html/forums/includes/adminfunctions_template.php(2998) : eval()'d code on line 187

This is likely caused by a malformed conditional statement. It is highly recommended that you fix this error before continuing, but you may continue as-is if you wish.

hmm, i just upgraded to rc3. will i have to wait for this to get upgraded too or should it still work?

Zachery

Hmm.. All these hacks fail to do what they say. ;)

Sure, they display a placeholder Avatar on the page the code is installed, but what about something that assigns an avatar to user accounts by default.

I need something that starts all new user accounts with a specified default avatar.

Has anyone seen that anywhere?

edit:

Brad had one in 2002...

Guess I should investigate.

Seems like this should already be part of vbulletin.
Nice work.
