Forum Live Feed & User Wall lets you see a continuously updated feed of activities on the forum, with a powerful set of customisation options for sources of information.
Uses If you've wished for a Facebook-like feed for your forum, this mod is for you. This mod adds 2 distinct features to your site. First a live feed showing actions performed by everyone on the forum, from new threads and posts to things like new avatars or signatures, your members can customise their feed and keep up to date with everything that's going on, right as it happens. Secondly every user also has their own wall that displays what they have been up to. This lets users see what their friends have been doing and join in! With advanced privacy configuration options and configurable preview options for each content type, this mod compliments other modifications like InfoPanels and produces a more detailed and verbose feed of the happenings on the forum. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please remember to click the, button to the right if you installed the mod ---->What does 'Marking As Installed' do ? * It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available. * For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention. * Marking a modification as installed also helps us know how many people are using our work, giving us extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications. We appreciate the support! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Priority support & Product Demos available at: http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Translations available @ our forum Support for translations handled by the translator in its respective threads only. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Complete Feature List Lite

Hi there got this error
Warning: require_once([path]/dbtech/livewall_pro/contenttypes/profilepictures.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/dbtech/livewall/includes/class_core.php on line 688 Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/builtfor/public_html/archongaming.org/forum/dbtech/livewall_pro/contenttypes/profilepictures.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/builtfor/public_html/archongaming.org/forum/dbtech/livewall/includes/class_core.php on line 688 |
I updated the files. Could you please re-download the .zip file and re-upload /dbtech/livewall/includes/class_core.php and see if that works?
Fillip |
Nice that works so let me get this right this does not put the update status under your username in postbit? It just gives me a wall full of feeds?
|
That is correct :)
We may implement additional display options in the future, but they will most likely be revolved around the profile and not the postbit. Postbit space is rather limited, and we want admins to be able to allow people to post a microblog (think Twitter) length status - hence the default 140 characters ;) - without worrying about the postbit looking like a giraffe. Hopefully that made sense :) Fillip |
sure does thanks for the feed back I will look in too this plugin more when that postbit or postbit legacy feature gets added :) keep up the good work I have spent alot of money over at your shop buying all them plugin goodies!
|
No plans for vB3 I assume? :(
|
We don't have any immediate plans to port it to vB3, sorry :(
Fillip |
Fooooo you're indirectly forcing me to upgrade to vB4.
Haha thanks for the quick reply and will be watching this closely! |
Sounds good ;)
Is this Addon show new albumpictures and does it show bbcodes? (Video, Smilies ...) |
There's currently no content type for Album Pictures.
It does show BBCode, all the BBCode that are allowed in "Non-Forum Areas" as per the BBCode settings. Smilies are also supported :) That being said, due to the fact that each content type comes with a "Preview Cut-off" setting, some BBCode may become invalidated and not parse correctly. Example: Let's say you have a quote tag that contains more than 300 characters. When it cuts off the message, the closing [/quote] will get removed and the start tag will be left in place. Hopefully that makes sense :) Fillip |
Whats different to this mod?
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=277545 |
You can compare the feature lists and screenshots to find out what's different - personally I'm not so good at selling things. That's more my partner Iain's thing.
I'll link him to your query and he'll answer as soon as he's able :) Fillip |

In pro version you also get whole comment system, where people could comment anything in feeds. Coding wise, DBTech has produced good code so far. I'm not telling that this other coder produces bad code, I'm just telling that in my experience DBTech produced good code so far and I believe they will continue so. On the other hand, only sure thing is that you try both mods on your testing site and see which one you like more. :) |

Hey,
nice work. I install the lite edition but i have some requests. 1. Statusupdate from forumhome. I put the textarea in the block template and it works fine without the maxlength. 2. A little preview at the block would be nice. Is that possilbe? |
Many thanx, seems to be nice work.
Installed, hope everything is fine. Now setting and checking, how it works, will post details here. G! |
Installed! working gr888, Its awesome.........Thanx a lot for such a cool mod!

Our mod is a full live facebook style wall, with user customisable content, content previews, privacy permissions for who does and doesn't see posts about you, a commenting system (in pro), as well as a full user-wall system where each user has their own wall filled with events relating only to them - again just like on facebook. Hope that clears up the difference ^.^ Iain |
Hello Iain,
I think have done all steps correctly, still something is wrong. Can not make it, help is required please. The forum url is: www.offwalk.com Thanx in advance. G! |
An error message is more useful than a site URL :)

Any chance of getting a content type added for photopost vbgallery and vba dynamics?
I would gladly buy the pro version for those features alone. |
and a content type for your Advanced Post Thanks / Like mod would be nice...
|
We will definitely add APTL content types, that's on the todo list :)
Fillip |
Hey, nice product - I can't find where it says the "Can Administer Forum Live Feed & User Wall" administrator permission
under usergroups? |

Very nice, you guys always make nice stuff. Made a forum block with it as well.
Look forward to enhancements. Thanks! |
Any chance on giving away a few pro versions for us to test for you, so we can provide feedback and all that :)

As far as adding support for 3rd party products, that tends to be something we do after we have added the feature requests and 1st party integration, so it will probably be a bit before those get added unless there are several requests for the integration from pro customers over at DBTech. We try to put features that everyone can make use of ahead of things like 3rd party integration that most people won't use, unless a number of our customers request the feature. For obvious reasons requests like that tend to be given priority :P Iain |
Nominated.
Once again DbTech making excellent plugins! |
[spoiler] tag awareness would be nice too...
|
This mod is aware of all BBCode that can be used in non-forum areas as per the vBulletin options. We have no further control over BBCode parsing.
Note that if the text between BBCode tags go over the preview limit, BBCode will not parse correctly. Fillip |
You have a wrong URL in all of your Mod-discriptions (Translations available @ )
|
I can not find the option to delete unwanted messages
regards |
There is currently no way to delete status updates.
Fillip |
Ok, then you can use it to spam, etc.
|
If I have the pro version and "comment" on someone's response to a thread THROUGH the Live feed, does it post to the actual thread itself? or would these responses be separate?
|
It doesn't, but in a future version the Pro version will display comments underneath each post :)
Fillip |
Hi Fillip,
testing this and must say I like it very much. I think the ability for the user to delete their status's is a must and displaying comments under/at bottom of post in thread would be great. :) Also a fix for resizing images on wall add to additional.css or dbtech_livewall.css
|
||||||
If a user uploads a picture or video, how does the feed react to it?
|
It doesn't react at all, as there's no integration with the attachment system at the moment :)
Fillip |
Quote:
|
It's not currently on the todo list, but that can always change :)
Fillip |
mod/admin editable status's and comments needed with this for sure. When i think about it, comments posted via wall not really needed to be posted to posts in thread, its pretty good as is. Attachments on wall, that would be good.
|
Demo pics look nothing like lite version, what are they from the pro version?
Not impressed with mod, what good is it to post a status update when you cant post a comment to it in the lite version. Lite version looks nothing more than a chat board... looks like we are going to have to uninstall this one unless there are some decent updates coming forth in the next release. |
Nothing in the feed for when people add or remove a friend?
|
These guys are smart and are great developers.
Status will be worked on :) I would like to see an option for it to works with the forums. Posts in thread from Live Feed Giving the user the options of the forum view or the Live Feed view by clicking the navbar! Somewhere down the road maybe an option to turn of forum and just view the live feed. Now we are talking dynamite :) ...with additional ongoing additional pages :p Maybe a Pro feature. Edit: Whoops did I say that...:p |

but that would be cool :) |

I think you may have completely misunderstood the mod to be honest. The point of it is to provided a "Live Feed" of what's going on in the forum/with users. It lets users keep up with recent posts/actions in real time. If that's not what you're looking for this isn't the mod for you =) Iain |
Quote:
This is one of the best "Facebook Wall" plug-ins to date. I will be upgrading soon to the Pro version for the commenting as well. You can't blame them for not wanting to give the cow for free here... If I could have only one feature added to this, it would be that the "Users Wall" would be a tab located in the User Profile section. This would encourage more people to use their pages just like in Facebook... please please please! Make it so! |

Entries per page
This setting controls how many wall entries are shown before a "Load More" link is displayed. How does this work? I dont see it on my install or on the feed @ dragonbyte tech |
Whoops, that was intended for a feature that wasn't able to be included for technical reasons. I will get the wording changed in the next version :)

I added a link in member action dropdown to view user's wall. something you might want to look at Fillip :)
edit: also added link on profile page. |
Good idea, I'll see if this can make it in the next version :)

Anyways, is there any information on when the next version of this mod should come out? |

Looking forward to the update.
Ive made some cosmetic changes to suit my forum (wall in tables) :) Will the next update bring this out of beta? I see no problems with it. |

There seems to be a inconsistent issue parsing bbcode, anyone else have this problem?

I already posted this @ dbtech but I wanted to share this with the other users @ vb.org since probably some of you guys don't visit their site.
With Live Wall http://www.webpagetest.org/result/120222_6T_3AQ34/ http://www.webpagetest.org/result/120222_B0_3AQ35/ Without Live Wall http://www.webpagetest.org/result/120223_5S_3B357/ http://www.webpagetest.org/result/120223_ZD_3B358/ Basically what I am saying by that is that there is at least 4 seconds page render time difference. It's pretty bad, really bad for me. This is an excellent plugin, hopefully there will be some improvements done. Here is what I put in the settings: Entries Per Page 10 (def 20) Refresh Rate 60 (def 30) Time Between Status Updates 15 (def 5) |
Quote:
I was only responding to answer the question. Now, 300 may be a work around. If users are posting 300 or less. I went looking and found this. Quote:
|
The big question is will you create this for the loyal 3.8 series users?
I think I speak on behalf of most if not all 3.8 series users to say that we would really appreciate it. Hit the to the left if you would appreciate this for use in the 3.8 series. |

Anyway, yes, optimizations if possible are always welcome. |
Fillip & Iain
I'd like to see an option for the Entries per page (Forum Live Feed) eg. show Last 1 hour 3 hours 6 hours 12 hours 24 hours or similar.. :) and possibly simlilar option for User Wall eg. show Last 1 week 2 weeks 1 month else pagination up to a set limit or similar :D |
That's sadly not feasible for technical reasons :(
It would create a lot of server load to check the date stamp instead of just fetching the x latest entries. Fillip |
Quote:
Depending on the size of your forum database, having the sidebar enabled can add load time such as the numbers reported here. Disabling the forum sidebar block for LW returned the load times to normal, so it is 100% safe to leave the mod enabled even if you don't want to take the performance hit the sidebar presents :) Fillip |
^ confirmed.
That's 100% accurate. :) |
@Dragonbyte,Is there any way we can alter this so that Nothing but the Status updates get added to the Wall???
Would be great for us then for our needs on site |
Convert this to 3.8.x
Please please please |

great update, lots more features
-possible beta bug if someone else can confirm? white page on view favourites -future request deletable status updates recent entries page for user on user wall thanks |

This update is pure gold!
My forums are much faster now! Also the option to update the settings if your site loads slow in admincp to your liking is a huge plus |
Is it possible to exclude some certain forums to show posts on Live Feed?
Thanks, |
Quote:
Fillip |
if possible it's best to post them in the support forums at DBTech
No worries.. gotta break out of the vb.org junkie posting habit. .lol |
Looks quite great.
Is it possible to Follow a particular user? We were hoping to use it like a 'soundoff' table where the latest show or release is announced by a user part of a particular usergroup with access to post. Then any other member can 'follow' that user to ensure they get notified of each show/released. :) |
Any way to turn off the Wall on the Profile and Just use the One In the Forum blocks?
Would be a great way for our setup to run this mod for our needs... |

What do the links in the code "http://ajax.googleapis.com...." do in the script? They preload on pages and slows it down some. Is that a file that could be pulled from the server directory instead? Thanks. Great work on the mod as always. Think I will upgrade because the feature to reply from the live wall is a convenient.
|
It fetches jQuery, the JavaScript library I use :)
Having it remote hosted is faster than locally hosted, because you can only fetch 1 locally hosted element at a time, whereas you can fetch locally hosted + remotely hosted items at the same time :) Fillip |
What's the chances of this on 3.8?
|
Quote:

Uninstall.
Forum sidebar preview is f-ucked as content preview is not resized and images jump out of the forum borders. |

Fillip |
I highly appreciated you work and love your mods.
As I said threads with pics wrapped in [img] tags are not resized in forum side block and if it is a large photo it breaks the forum. |
Love the plugin Ian, could you try get this on 3.8? How long could it take? Looks great, shame I can't use it fully though.
|
Same problem as with DavidsMods live feed addon.
If you have enabled quick reply and submit a reply containing special characters like the german umlauts they are totally messed up. Only after refreshing the page they are shown as they should. |
