"Formerly Known As" in Signature on Username Change

Description: When a user's username is changed, it adds a line to their signature: "Formerly Known As XXXX." Not very complicated, just something simple I made for my site and thought I'd upload here.

Installation:
  • Import the product XML file

Contains:
  • 1 Plugin

This hack is an add-on to Username Management, which allows users to change their own username (with some restrictions). However, this hack should work without the Username Management hack if you want just this... it just seems to be best put together, that's all.

Please click install.

Umm, okay... dunno what you expect to see though, it's just a line at the end of people's signature.

What if they change their name more than once? Will multiple old names show up?

Nope, just the last name you had. It doesn't do anything weird with or permanent with the signature, it just adds the last username they had to the end.
For example, if my username was Billy, and now I have changed it to Krofh, my signature will have this line at the end of it:
"Formerly known as Billy."
In the case of me personally, it would look like:
-------------------------
My hacks - Quote Notification - Prevent Multiple Registrations From Same IP Address - Profile Privacy
Available for custom hack coding for 3.5.x, drop me an email or PM
Formerly known as Billy

---------------------

Like I said, there really isn't much to this hack at all, it's just something I custom-made for my site and decided to put up here in case anyone else found it useful. I doubt more than three people will actually use it, ever.

Hmm, now that I think about it, it shouldn't need Username Management... I just installed them together on my site so I assumed I'd put that up, but I guess it didn't need it.

Edit what setting? All you really would need to do is turn it on or off, which would be by simply disabling/enabling it. I would have used a normal phrase, but the place this query gets run from doesn't seem to have access to $vbphrase for some reason, so the phrase is in the one plugin if you want to change it.

Well I installed it --and i'm not seeing where exactly a user can make changes.

What i see in the code, it shouldn't need the Username Manegement modification to be installed.

1 tip: Maybe better to use the datamanager to update the signature, instead of a manual query.
