Hi. Already know what specific template I'd need to edit. But how coding wise, would I go about decreasing the size of the spaces between links on my navigation bar? Thus bringing the links closer together more tightly? So they aren't spaced so far apart?

Use Firebug (firefox addon) or Inspect Element (chrome/safari) or Developer Tools (IE) to select the element and see what attributes are adding the excess space and that will let you know what css selection is setting the rule. you can then search the templates for that rule and edit it accordingly.
