Seperate files in the filesystem

My host will not allow more than 2,000 files viewable from the FTP. This of course makes it a pain to edit files or backup arcade games since I have several thousand as it is.

Would it possible in future versions to limit the number of files that the arcade stores in a directory? For example like VB does with the attachments?

Thanks again for all your work!!!

-Jason

That would be very helpfull when changing host....

I just moved over 5,100 games and over 10,000 arcade images..
Man is that a pain when FTP folders viewable files limit is 1,998..

Feature Requests:

1. It was very usefull if there was a function in AdminCp to check which unused IMGs and Gamefiles are in the Arcade after deleting Games from the Database.

In my Case i have installed over 1500 Games and have cleaned the Database by the Mass-Delete Function from unwanted Games but i have not seen that the Files are not deleted in this Moment. Now i have between 50~100 Files in the Gamesfolder that are unused.

2. It was nice if Usergroups can Delete or Edit Games from the Arcade directly without going to the AdminCP. For Example - editing Gametitle by AJAX or/and a Checkboxes to delete a Game or move it to other Categorys like Posting or Threads.

Here's what I'll be creating for my arcade installation:
  • Report a broken game
  • Email game to friend (let you're friends know about a certain game).
  • Reviews (comments on games in a nice block -- Paginate comments/reviews).

Planning on using AJAX for each tab

I'll happily share the code (and maybe it will all become default?) -- just need to get a few other things soughted at the moment -- such as a new style for my site, PRO version of HelpCenter and list goes on....

It would be awesome if we could set the "Server-Timeout (seconds) for Score-Submission" to numbers with decimals. For example, the default is "3" seconds. We should be able to make it something like 2.5.

I hope I worded that well.

When you delete a game from the arcade, and choose to remove the files, have it so it removes the TAR file, if it exists. Otherwise when you select "install all games" it will just put it right back in the arcade..

Marcel, ty so much for this very great vB enhancement hack.

Pls apologises for my terrible english, I will try my best to be understood.

Donno if what I will ask below is a bug or a possible future enhancement suggestion. but anyway here we go.

1) Group Permissions.
actually arcade's Group permissions does not take in full real consideration of vBsub-groups.

* Suppose (in a private forum that take sub-groups advantages) to be :
with main group:
- User flagged as by default 'Registered' (eg. where Registered Users are not allowed to play but they can see arcade)

and as subsidiary group:
- User flagged (also) as Active Users can play. (eg. where Active Users is an automatically added subgroup once 15 days from registration + 50 active posts)
(eg. where Active Users are allowed to play but with certain limits)
- User flagged (also) as Gamer Users can play. (eg. where Gamer Users is an on-Demand status specific privilege only to Active Users(subgroup) with > 500 active posts.)
(eg. where Gamer Users are allowed to play but w/o limits)

well....(long run!) ....

so at the end will be great if in the arcade Group permissions could be capable to

a) an usergroup flagged as Not allowed, and usergroup flagged as allowed to see but not to play shuld not set all the remaining parameters (minimum posts, day min post .....) and specially the 0 condition.
b) take in greater consideration that an User can be flagged with more than one subsidiary group.
if so, the issue achieved in a similar condition as the above, is solved.

2) User not allowed ‘play-counter’
Suppose to have a day limit set up eg. 5 play per day. and 3 post per day and minimum 200 post.
you have >200 and you forgot that today you didn' post 3 yet.
you try to play a game and the system will tell you almost this....'bad boy post at least 3 then come back to play!'
as the good boy you are, you post the minimum requested and you come back to the arcade. LOL what a shame when you find that now you have only 4 possibilities left as the 1st probabilly was spent already on the advice got b4.
Is this a feature or is something that can be fixed?

3) vB Admin Management
in vB adminCp would really be Great and Gorgeous if the arcade tab could be allowed or not allowed upon customizable admin privileges.

ty so much for the attention

take care

ciao

would be great to have the 'arcade admin section' selectable on admin permissions.

example admin 1UID enable admin uID1,32,54 but not UID153 to have arcade controls on admincp

ciao

--------------- Added 08 Jun 2008 at 22:24 ---------------

would be great to have the sentence for crowns (in forumbit) not Harcoded.
Not all languages use 's Saxon genitive (eg. Tom's Hardware - in my language whould be : Hardware di Tom) - or a final 's' for plural.

the plural final 's' should be fixed also for an arcade section - Look at own score page. the column where states the rekord time duration :

acp_days
acp_day1
acp_day2

acp_day1+acp_day2 will make confusion!!
(also nosense to use day2 as acp_days is already there)

would be very gorgeous to have a control switch on arcade CP to enable or not the final s (plural) and 's (genitive)

apologises for my broken english

ciao

IMO, it should be the default.
I noticed now that I have the scores pruned 10% every week that this is an important thing. In V3arcade this worked as expected. In ibP the score to beat is lower but in reality you still need to hit the highest score to score on the scoreboard. Strange.
