Facebook Connect
This add-on allows your guests and existing users to login with their Facebook account through Facebook Connect.

WORKS WITH 3.8!

Benefits of Facebook Connect
  • Users can simply login with their Facebook account without going through the registration process.
  • Increase user interaction and your traffic through Facebook notifications and news-feeds!
Features
Facebook users will be able to receive Facebook notifications when:
  • There is a reply to their thread or a thread that they're subscribing to
  • They receive a new PM
News-Feed will be published on to the user's wall when the user:
  • Logs in for the first time
  • Replies to a thread
  • Creates a new thread
Fetch user data from Facebook
Fetch data like name, location, profile picture and use it on your forums! (NOTE: Some data may not be available for some users)

Automatically befriend user's friends
If any of the user's friends are also registered on the forum, they will automatically be friends!

How to Upgrade From 2.0.0 to 2.0.1
  • Upgrade the product. (Import the product XML again and set overwrite to yes).
  • Update Feed Template IDs in the settings (make sure they are the same as at: FB Connect Options -> News-Feed Templates)

Troubleshooting
Server Requirements:
PHP 5

If you get an error:


Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)   
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

Means that there is something wrong with your callback URL. Your callback URL must be where xd_receiver.htm is; so when you enter [callbackurl]/xd_receiver.htm into your browser you should see a blank page (not a 404 page not found error or anything else).

If you get a continues this means there is a javascript error. Make sure you've done all the template edits correctly (especially footer & navbar). Clear your cache and reload the page.

If nothing happens when you click the Facebook Connect button make sure your callback url domain is the same as you forum domain (the one set in your forum settings) - more specifically make sure that there is a www (or isn't) in both domains.

You log in with your vB account info so that Facebook knows which account to sync up to. Otherwise, anyone could link up their Facebook account with anyone's vB account.

i cant edit my base domain..it says:
Validation failed.

Base Domain is not valid. Connect URL must be derived from your Base Domain.

I can't seem to get it to work... When I initially tested it out, it stated I entered the wrong password and to try again. I clicked Connect with Facebook again and it doesn't do anything. Now, I've asked a few others to try it, and they say it doesn't do anything either...

k so i installed it and am not getting any error messages or anything...but i cant tell if it is working...

it didnt post to my wall when it integrated accounts.... was tehre supposed to be some kinda of confirmation or something?? cuz it just went back to the forum home after filling out the forms.

and is it really going to ask me if i want to post my reply on FB to every thread i reply to? or can you turn that off?

So the facebook notifications are coming through on Facebook, but not into my Blackberry via the Facebook app. Any ideas?

Alright well it isn't emailing me still. Looked through the app setting on FB and couldn't find anything about sending emails....so how do I get the app to send emails out???

Sorry I know this is more facebook than vb issues but I dunno where else to post.

is there any set to SET a specific style and make it unchangeable to the user with this mod?

I'd like to set a specific style when someone views the site from FB.

You don't actually view the site in FB...it just posts links back to your site

You mean you want them to see a certain skin when they enter via a linked clicked in FB?

the answer is yes, because I am going to have a style just for people who enter via fb and show my forum in facebook via an iframe.

it seems like such a waste of great code to make someone leave facebook and come to my site especially since they'll lose all the features of facebook such as chat, links to their favoriate apps, etc.

any idea on how to make the fbconnect app send emails? so it shows up on my blackberry.

The iphone app works differently so it is working there i guess
