[YUI] Tabbed Forum Home (TFH) version 4.0.8
vBulletin version: 4.1.11 - 4.2.0
Older versions need original mod for now

Description:
This MOD is for creating a "Tabbed" Forum Home Page to have Categories and other Data types (via Modules) displayed within Tab containers. Please do not confuse this with the Tab Menu System here at vbulletin.org. They are totally different systems. These Tabs actually switch the content via AJAX without leaving the main forums page.

This is an entirely new version of TFH and only works with vB4. Management is all done via the Admin CP.

Installation is done in 3 simple steps. Upload files, Import product, 3 easy Template Edits.

Setup is now a breeze via the Tabs option in the Admin CP.

The attached Zip File contains the Files and Instructions necessary to install.

Incompatible mods
Two columns of categories - http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=275114

Upgrading to 4.0.7+ from previous versions
We have had to change the mod's id which means when you install this time you will have 2 mods, the new version with its new id and the old version.
Both can run side by side but shouldnt to save processing time.

To migrate:
Install the latest version and upload all the files (no conflicts to worry about)
Install the latest product xml
Follow the template changes in the upgrade txt
Create your tabs in the new admincp menu option "EG: Tabbed Forum Home" to mirror the existing "Tabbed Forum Home" menu.
Once done uninstall the product "Tabbed Forum Home" with productid bobster_tfh (old mod id)

I think I will hold off for a more search engine friendly tab forum home script.

I had this tagged for a while in hopes that things would change a little.

While this mod works great, I dis-approve of the SEO unfriendliness. Some of us work hard to achieve good seo rankings. I would also like the site to look almost 100% the same between guest and members.

Don't get me wrong here this is a great mod, it is just not for me.

Google is not the only search engine. I plan to mimic the one vBulletin uses for my site.

All the ones vBulletin recognize is what I've so far got working.

Can you explain a little more? I've got a few idea's in mind for Content Modules that pull data from the CMS. haven't really "dug" into the CMS yet, but should be easy to pull article and comment data.

btw, anyone can write content modules for this, they don't need my permission. Modules can be written in xml, php or html..

I'll be adding a couple updated/new "blog" modules this weekend.

Just take a look here:

where vbb is the VarName that you entered for the specific tab
The way, I plan to use this, is to install this Mod and arrange the Tabs.
Then I suppress the Tab-Iamges and add Links in the vB Tab Bar with this syntax.
At the Last, I give vBSEO CRR's that rewrite the Tab-Links into nice URL's.
So the robots cann access the Pages seperately and can indem them with a nice and speaking URL.

You can't, this only works with forum categories at the moment.

This is designed to breakout FORUMHOME which is broke out by Categories.

If you want a Tab (or multiple tabs) to display Threads from one of more specific forums , then you can use the Recent Threads Module(s) which I will be releasing soon.

You can do pretty much anything you want with the MODULES portion of this modification.

That is one of many modules under development. Blogs, Articles, Links, Albums, Social Groups etc.. I plan on making my own generic versions and hopefully others will realize the ability of MODULES and release their own custom version to the community.
