A lightweight *forum only style aimed at small screen devices such as Windows Smartphones, Nokias and even iPhones. It has VERY low bandwidth requirements - 15 times less on my site - 20K as opposed to 300K for forumhome.

*forum only - I have done a very small amount of rough work on CMS templates, a simple single column CMS *could* be created to work with this style without too much effort. However I am not sure if you can have a different CMS layout dependent on which style you are using?

This is an update to the mobile style I have previously released.

The changes are predominantly aesthetic to take advantage of larger screens.

It is also much easier to change colour schemes by editing the commented CSS file.

This is a a lightweight style and as such has much reduced functionality/information over the default vBulletin style.

Install instructions:
  • Firstly, if upgrading, I recommend installing this as a new style rather than overwriting your previous install. This way you get to test it first without trashing your existing style.
  • BACKUP YOUR EXISTING lightweight.css.php FILE IF YOU HAVE CSS CUSTOMISATIONS
  • Download ZIP file
  • Unzip to a local/temp directory
  • Edit lightweight.css.php file to customise colours if required
  • Upload contents of the upload directory in the zip file folder to your forum root.
  • Install style XML via Style Manager in your ADMINCP
  • **Install and configure "LightWeight Style Options"
  • See post 2 for a FAQ
  • Click "Mark as Installed"
  • Test it out
  • Leave a rating
  • Leave feedback
  • Enjoy checking your site from your mobile phone without the need to pinch/zoom/wait etc...

1.0.3 - 16 DEC 2011 - Updated to 1.0.3, tried to fix all known issues. Nothing new. If you have updated your site as bugs have been found, probably no need to upgrade. But if you're upgrading your site from to 4.1.9, might be worthwhile.
1.0.3a - 16 DEC 2011 - remove test ad hook code accidently left in postbit_legacy template

Dartho for some reason I am having trouble with this style and another mod ESB - http://www.midwiferyonline.co.uk/forum.php?styleid=8

I don't get why the sidebar is showing up in the mobile style..?

Mods will generally apply to all styles, plugins don;t discriminate. If you have this sidebar mod http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=233871 it apparenly has options to disable it within certain styles. Otherwise, link me to which one you are using.

My Iphone doesn't detect this style when viewing in safari? How Can I get this to be enabled on all mobile phones but exclude the ipad?

I only want users to use this style or use my tapatalk app. I really don't want any mobile phones viewing the desktop version of my site as its is just not configured for phones.

Also did you manage to include the CMS? I know you talked about it quite a while back.

WHat are you using for detection? There are bugs with teh detection side of things under the last few versions of vBulletin 4. vBulletin's fix for this is a previous page http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showt...99#post2289299

CMS is not straight forward as far as I can tell - go back a few pages and you'll find an attached CMS style you can try out (in a test style or site! - Not live )

I have no idea what I'm using for detection.. Lol.

I originally installed this style like a year ago, so I can't remember what I've done but just recently deleted the style as I originally merged the newesy with the oldest and it screwed up. I have just reinstalled the latest style.

What detection script should I be using? (Will have a look at that link now). ty

Nowadays I generaly tell people to use vBulletin's built in one - then I don't have to support it

Ok set up vb detection script but my iPhone still doesnt automatically use your style.

Yep edited but the iPhone still isn't being picked up and transferred to the your light skin even though I have that set for old and new devices and I have it so users can't change styles so it's on force but it still isn't showing.

Do you have the styles checked as user selectable? (ticks next to their name in Style Manager)
