installing a "suite" style on a "forum" only
Has anyone installed a "suite" theme onto a "forum" only? what kind of problems would this potentially create?

None. Unless there were any manual links on the page/style somewhere referencing to the "content/CMS" page. other than that there shouldn't be any issues.
