What does this mean? Does this mean that they have not clicked the confirmation link or are they waiting for something from us?

Someone said she registered but when I checked, she's listed as "user awaiting email confirmation". I manually changed her to registered user and then sent a password reminder but, I don't know if she's ever received the Welcome message.

It means they never clicked the link in the confirmation email.

It could happen for many reasons, including being sent to a bad email address, or your email being sent to spam folders. The second is the most common reason.

FWIW, I have also seen regular members get put there for no particular reason. They swear they didn't try to change their password or anything. I dunno, I just move them back.
