Wink The Sonic Joint; My Joint. ;p

Well, I posted for comments before I added hacks in vbtemplates.com and the only thing they said was that there were too many catagories for the amount of users I had there. Now the board grew to 70 (most inactive though) and I still didn't take away stuff. =j But I did add hacks. One big hack and the others are fairly small. We're running a tournament thanks to Bitsys' battle hack. (Thanks Bitsys! XD)

Any comments? Or anything? ^^;

Take in mind I am no graphics guru, but I do have three comments.

1. I think your home page could do with a clearer link to the forums. I know to click the logo because I am familiar with how vb is set up. However, i think newcomers might not find your forums as easily. (Users are basically stupid)

2. I like the dark colors. I have some concerns that they might be hard to read long-term. If you want people to stick around colors need to be very easy on the eyes.

3. On the forumhome page, I would line up all of the circles. Your category images don't quite line up with your on/off buttons and that makes it look a bit off kilter.

Things seem a bit slow. I would hold off on hacking more unless you are optimizing.

Amy

1. I agree; it blows my mind how many portals don't have a very clear link that says "Forums". I often have to guess the URL.

2. Disagree; too dark to read sometimes

3. Agree

Your new posts and no new posts icons are the same.

Well..... who cares what you think! hehe, just kiddin'. Well, it's not really how many hacks I have, it's the damn server. My host is having some difficulties. -_-'

About the alignement on the catagories, heck with that, I'm not gonna bother. I plan to make my own style soon and will look a hell of a lot better than that. Same with the text, and yes, I will have more buttons saying "Forums" on it. =j Thanks for the tips guys.

-Slow loading main page.
-Navbar looks wrong with the banner being longer
-'Logout' button in the header shouldn't show when you're not even logged in.
-Forums are hard to locate from portal page. (To a first time vB user lets say)

By design, I think you mean the style, right? It's not mine. ^_^; Like I mentioned, I plan to make my own style. This was just picked up somewhere here. or was it vbtemplates.com? I dun remember, but anyway, dun know when everything's gonna change but I'll let ya guys know when I did the new style. And I gotta make a new link to the forums then. =j

EDIT: I changed the "home" button link to /forums. And I'll stop installing hacks. I'm tired of searching through the php files. -_-;

The first step to making your site individual is to have it's own style.

Most of the ones off vBT.com aren't too good.

1) needs a "forums" link
2) nav bar needs to be longer
3) it's not your own style

1) Read the above posts.
2) I know that, will be fixed later
3) Read #1.

By god man, emphasis on #1!!! That really gets me annoyed when people don't read all the post. -_-;

At least give some ideas on how to improve it. Like I said before I will make my own style, or get someone to help me out from my board. But I'd rather do one myself.

http://members.lycos.co.uk/thesonicjoint/index.php?

I kinda updated my board alot and restarted it. Right now it's in Beta, but it's almost done. The forum home page still needs to be changed. Here's the things I made.

1) The banner
2) Edited the buttons from blue to black, silver-like color.
3) The post bits
4) The graphic borders.

I believe thats about it that I've done. I added many hacks from here, like the chat box, journal, Bitsys' RPG Hack, and others. I will put the list here to give credit.

The forum index and the home index will change layout soon. All PHP coding was done from hackers here in VB.org. I kinda changed a bit to my needs. Any ways, any comments are welcome. Please, if you spot something, point it out. I know I might of been alittle rude in the above post and I do apologize.

edit: I read above about the forum/home buttons for the portal page before, and I do plan to make a forums button for the portal and a home button for the forums. Also, I know about the Lycos frame on the side. Soon I'm going to move back to my original host of TSJ. If you're using a MAC, good luck. =/
