View Full Version : [DOWNLOAD] Converter (from v3arcade to ibProArcade)

Anybody who has v3arcade running on his site and wants to migrate to ibProArcade... Here is the solution

This will automatically convert your installed games and, if you want to, even all the scores from v3arcade to ibProArcade.
The converter is designed to be used on a fresh ibProArcade-installation as you will lose all installed games and scores in your ibProArcade.

The Converter is compatible to:

vBulletin 3.5.x / 3.6.x
ibProArcade v2.5.9+ and later
v3arcade 1.0.6 (for vBulletin 3.5.x)
usage with <1.0.6 are untested yet, please let me know if/how this works

Just follow those steps to migrate:

1) don't touch your v3arcade-installation yet, just close the arcade
2) download ibProArcade (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=101554) and install it
3) upload the attached converter to your forum's root-directory and run it

That's all, the converter is interactive and will tell you what to do ect.

Don't forget to remove the converter.php after everything is done !

The converter will let you choose if you want to remove v3arcade after conversion or not.

After you successfully converted, feel free to click UNINSTALL (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/vborg_miscactions.php?do=uninstallhack&threadid=114012) for v3arcade

Note to the sceptics ;)
If you want to take a look on ibProArcade first while not losing your v3arcade, make sure you rename your /arcade.php to /v3arcade.php before you install ibProArcade. Then, after conversion is done, do not remove v3arcade at this time and test ibProArcade.
If you feel comfortable with it, remove v3arcade later via vBulletin's Product-Manager or (and that is what I point you to) run the converter again, it will provide a link for uninstallation on the first page and then guide you through the complete uninstallation (will even tell you which files and folders to remove, which the Product-uninstaller does not!). Remember to remove the renamed /v3arcade.php too ;)
If you dislike ibProArcade, please let me know the reason and uninstall ibProArcade via the Product-Manager, then rename your /v3arcade.php to /arcade.php and you can use your v3arcade again.

If you find any bugs, if you have any improvements, ideas ect. please let me know :)

Please do me a favour and post something here in this thread if you used the converter, just information if everything worked well and how you like your new Arcade ;)

Thx!

Sorry i havent posted earlier, but Vb.org was down:P

Everything went smoothly, IbproArcade is on the house:D

Ps

The only thing u must add imho in your directions, is that after u uninstall V3Arcade via the Converter, u must also uninstall any related addons u may installed. It may sounds like a common sense, but i didnt do it till my site went down (i had an error) and vb.org was also down and i was little freaked out:P But after i got my senses back, everything went smoothly:D

I have just tested this with 3.6.x beta 3.

It worked sucessfully without a flaw!

It also took about..30 seconds to convert.

I have some suggestions though:

Make the converter look like the vbulletin forum upgrade pages
Link to the ibpro arcade download page when it says the ibpro arcade is not found (So that people can download it).
Add a page to tell people where the v3arcade files are so that they can remove them (ones in admincp, includes, images etc).Thats about it :) Great stuff!

Also: This converter works with ibpro arcade 2.5.4+ (when moving data from v3arcade to 2.5.4+) as I did that on vbulletin 3.5.x (I forgot I had 2.5.4 not 2.5.6 :p)

Add a page to tell people where the v3arcade files are so that they can remove them (ones in admincp, includes, images etc). That already is included, just start the converter and click "remove v3arcade" ...

It will tell you all steps that need to be done :)

I will set the Link to download ibProArcade, good idea !

Yes, if you are in step 3 of the converter it tells you how to move which files :)

Not much to do:
move all .swf-Files from /games to /arcade
move all .gif-Files from /images/arcade to /arcade/images

That's all :)

Today I made the change to Ibproarcade. Out with the old, in with the new.

I used the converter to bring over all the scores from V3 arcade, but there is one problem. It brought over every score ever set, even though I only want members highest scores to show. I have the ACP set to "only save users top score", and that seems to be working just fine now, but how do I go back and update the leaderboards to delete every score except the highest for each user? I have ran all of the updates in score tools, and none of them had an effect.

I dont have too many users so I could just go through and prune each users scores individually, but if there is an easier way to do this, please do tell.

Thanks!

MrZeropage

@altdelete47:
Thanks for using ibProArcade :)
That is a thing I thought of to integrate in AdminCP for next v2.5.7+: prune all lower scores of a user per game if setting is changed to "save only users top score", or just provide a function in "Score Tools" for that.
By now there is no option to do that automatically, sorry.

It worked, but the other Games that come with Ibpro .. like Pacman etc are missing, even though they were their before i did the Conversion.

MrZeropage
09 Jul 2006, 16:01
Yes, because of unique GameIDs all Games are pruned before converting the existing Games, and I did not implement to re-add them after all games from v3arcade are converter to avoid double-games, as most of standard-games are the same in v3arcade.

Feel free to add them manually ;)

worked well but i deleted all my scores afterwardsand it still shows a member saying "got 109 times
the High Score of all time "

Any ideas on what went wrong?

MrZeropage
10 Jul 2006, 21:00
you deleted the scores afterwards and thus the best results remain as being independent from pruning ect.

ibProArcade v2.5.7+ will come along with a feature to delete some/all best results, until then you have to wait or run the following queries:

UPDATE games_list SET bestscore=0
UPDATE games_list SET bestmid=0

Is it possible to run both the old Arcade and the new converted one simultaneously? For example one as a private and one as a public?

MrZeropage
12 Jul 2006, 07:41
Not really, as the games submit their score to /arcade.php
Beside it would not really make sense as you would have two score-tables ect.

I was thinking because of some of the adult games I would want to keep them seperate. Np, I appreciate you response! I think I will give this a try!

MrZeropage
12 Jul 2006, 15:14
You can keep Games separate this way with ibProArcade:

put the adult games in a category ("adult" or something like that) and adapt the permissions that only one specific usergroup can access this category.

Then you can easily manage who can access those games and who not :)

the Converter only works for the new v3arcade done for vBulletin 3.5.x

so you could uninstall your v3arcade and start over with a fresh ibProArcade

there never was real uninstall-function for v3arcade, sorry, even not for those who paid for "premium support" ;)

If you want I can manually do the uninstallation and install ibProArcade on your site, I just need full AdminCP+FTP Access and myphpadmin, send me all access-data via PM.

If you place a little donation via PayPal for that work I would be happy :)

Converted using Converter from V3 1.06 to OBPro 2.5.6+ - So far no issues...will post if any come up.

Looks like I might have to do something to make it work with vbplaza correctly. Almost the 100% smooth there...almost...hehe

Edit - Found the problem and fixed it. I still had the V3 stuff installed for vbplaza/bux. Removed those and the plugin, and installed the IBPro addon for VBPlaza/Bux and all is well.

Hope this helps someone else in the future. :)

I am having issues with step 2.. Moving the scores.. I know I have a lot of sessions to move due to a lot of games, but I was looking in the database and I see LOTS of sessions with the score of 0.. Would it help to remove these? I know there is an option to remove all 0 scores in the admincp for v3arcade, but I really dont think its doing anything other that keeping it from being seen in the highscores templates.. If I should remove these from the database, what would the query be?

DELETE FROM `arcade_sessions` WHERE `score` = 0
???????

Is that safe?

The error I get when performing step 2 is

Welcome to the ibProArcade-Converter v1.0
=========================================
Converting SCORES

Please wait...
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in *websitepath*\includes\class_core.php on line 363

So I am guessing its just too much.. Is there somewhere I can increase that time out period??

Any suggestions.. I see the results of step 1, and I am very excited to finish this off.... PLEASE HELP!!!

Is this an option yet? I like the leaderboard, but many players have 1st, 2nd,3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, whatever... From the old system and the leftover scores... Just curious how to do this if possible.. Basically just removing all but the highest score of each user in each game...

Got some feedback on this for you. With 150,000 users, the converter script always timed out on step 2.
So I put in a line of code:
while ($score = $vbulletin->db->fetch_array($scores))
{
$vbulletin->db->query_write("INSERT INTO " . TABLE_PREFIX . "games_scores (s_id, gid, name, mid, datescored, comment, score)
VALUES
('$score[sessionid]', $score[gameid], '".addslashes($score[username])."', $score[userid], $score[finish], '".cleanstring($score['comment'])."', $score[score])");
$counter++;
echo ("$counter, ");
}

Inserting the echo ("$counter, ");

After which it ran just fine.

Dude, I don't mean to be a pain in the butt about this but I've been all over this board trying to find the template modifications for the ibProArcade. I uploaded some styles on my board and for some of them I've had to go back into the Edit Templates to update the vbPlaza which is working fine, but I need to do this for the Arcade to show up on the new styles and I've searched this site until my fingers hurt without much luck. It's not in the Readme file or else I wouldn't be here. Please can you provide the hacks for me to update the Edit Template...I'd really appreciate it...I'll even bookmark it...

Hi

I just installed this... i.e. I installed ibproarcade first, then I ran the converter .. everything went smoothly ..

then I uninstalled v3arcade and deleted its associated files and directories ..

I also removed v3 arcade from navbar and postbit/postbit legacy ..

however now i'm getting a database error when I try and access the arcade

(under www.theaccountancyforums.com/forums)

please advise

thanks!

something gives me the feeling the error is because I deleted v3Arcade's files :(

ok I deleted all the v3arcade files showing under 'games list' in my admincp/arcade .. ( i.e. ones who had gifs missing and no valid link to them)

now the only games showing under my admincp/arcade are the ones with gifs displaying

I've also re-installed ibproarcade

still getting the database error :(

Neilll, see post #55 for your answer.

.......

To anyone, I installed ibPro arcade and followed the installation instructions included in the zip file, then I ran the converter and it went well, but the arcade won't open. I should say though, that the converter did tell me to see if the arcade would open and let me play a game first, and it wouldn't, but I thought it was because both arcades were there. It just says not found, it's a generic message, not an error with information that I can post here.

I also ended up with two links to the arcade in the navbar, and both took me to v3 before I uninstalled v3, now it gives me the not found message. Then I took the install instructions to the v3 arcade installation and reversed it - taking out and changing back the code that I changed when I installed it... and it still won't open.

I do have high scores scrolling over the persons details in posts, but there are two identical rows scrolling the same information.

I would have just removed v3 before installing ibPro, but I wanted to save the scores if I could. I should also say, I tried to install ibPro when I first opened my site a two years ago and I couldn't get it installed then either, which is why I went with v3.

I am running the newest vBulletin and my sql5.

Any suggestions? I could sure use some help. Thanks.

did you upload all files ? is arcade.php in your forum's root ?

Oh thanks for the reminder.. it looked like it was there, but when I upped it from the cp instead of the ftp proggy, the arcade showed up.. I've been having probs uploading lately so that was the trick. Thanks so much!

Oh, one more thing.. I still have the double scrolling high scores.. where do I look to get rid of that code?

I have V3 arcade product plugin still on my site, when I tried to uninstaled it , it wont allow me to do.

The converter does not find any data for V3acade in my database.

I am currently running Ibproarcade 2.66+

the v3arcade product is v3 Arcade 1.05 , any ideas on how to remove the v3 Arcade product ?

MrZeropage

run converter and click "uninstall v3arcade" there are instructions about which files to remove ect

Queball_Beast
09 May 2008, 01:46
hmmm, the converter aborts the uninstalling.

The only thing installed from v3arcade is the product which I cant remove

I remember having v3arcade installed on my site for about 1 or 2 weeks, then I found ibProArcade, I installed it and never looked back.

I think I might have removed the files for v3arcade without actually uninstalling but I cant remember since it has been so long ago.

Install and converter work perfectly.

But it did not convert over the categories. I realize that it's not part of the converter process yet, but does anyone have any code or something I can use to move the categories over? I hate to go through six hundred plus games all over again...

Mr Z, awesome job. good luck with the new addtion!

Running 3.5.3, but thinking of switching to 3.72 soon. Would this tool work to convert v3 to ibProArcade on the 3.72 platform or this strictly for 3.5/3.6?

Or would the move from v3 to ibProArcade be recommended while I'm on the 3.5.3 version of vBulletin *after* which I could upgrade to 3.72 and not encounter an issue?

Hi

(v3 Arcade 1.07)
(VB 3.7.2)

I also get time out error, so I added "echo ("$counter, ");" and I still get the error.

Has anyone found a fix for it?

Thanks

I was wondering what else I can do about the time out error I'm getting:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded...

I've tried running the query to delete the scores with 0 (10553 rows were deleted), but I'm still having the same issue. I've also tried adding the code below to the file and this didn't work either.

echo ("$counter, ");

I'd love to be able to save our scores, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Please do me a favour and post something here in this thread if you used the converter, just information if everything worked well and how you like your new Arcade ;)

Thx!

I used the converter, but when getting to the final removal of v3 arcade I get the message that I am unauthorized for that thread.

If you find any bugs, if you have any improvements, ideas ect. please let me know :)hi there, i,m having problems with arcade, all the games aren,t submitting scores, can any one help me please, as i can,t reopen website til its fixed thanks ArcadeKing

Hi,
I had v3arcade 3.0.9 and vbulletin 3.8.2, I used the converter and the conversion worked good but i have a problem.....it doesn't save the score..When I click on "Submit Score" it returns in arcade hompage...how can i fix this?

EDIT:

It saves 1 games and don't save 8 games....the only game is Chopper Challenge

It saves score games integrated, the score of the game which was in v3arcade it doesn't save

PS: Sorry for my english

I installed the arcade and checked that it was working, it was, I then ran the converter and uninstalled v3arcade. I then deleted the v3arcade files.

I now get this error when accessing the arcade:
Note: User 1824 was the current arcade champion.

mySQL query error: SELECT user.userid, user.avatarid, user.avatarrevision, avatar.avatarpath, customavatar.filename, NOT ISNULL(filedata) AS hascustom, customavatar.dateline FROM (SELECT * FROM dbuser WHERE userid=1824) AS user LEFT JOIN dbavatar AS avatar ON avatar.avatarid = user.avatarid LEFT JOIN dbcustomavatar AS customavatar ON customavatar.userid = user.userid WHERE customavatar.userid=1824 OR user.userid=1824

Update:
I wasn't able to find a workaround for this unfortunately, so I have uninstalled everything and started over.
Installed v3, installed v3 games, installed ibpro, converted games to ibpro.
Being no scores, there was no issue this time.

However there is now the same error when scores are added, not sure where i've gone wrong here.

Ok, I've managed to tweak converter.php and it seems to have worked, but before I post it here I just have one question...when the converter finished, I was told:

Now you have to do the following steps in your AdminCP (Arcade -> Score Tools):
1) run Update Highscores
2) run Update the Best Results
3) run Update League

Is there a way to run these in my browser?

angeljs

Ok, managed to find the link, but have no idea why it's not in my admin cp...something I'll probably figure out at some point.

Anyway, I've attached my converter.php, but please, please, please backup your database before using it as I'm not a programer and know very little about...well, anything really! :erm:

This converter is out-dated, and no one seems to care (speaking towards the dev of this plugin) as it won't work on the latest v3 of the Arcade system. Already replied here saying it won't work + PM'd the developer. He's recently active, but ignoring nor replying to my PM.

If you Convert from the newest v3Arcade to ibProarcade..

Looks like you need to add v3,,to two different tables in the converter.php file..

Two places change:
arcade_games
to
v3arcade_games

Then six places change:
arcade_sessions
to
v3arcade_sessions
