This template mod will allow you to add your users MySpace ID as a link, on their forum posts. This link, when clicked on, will open the users MySpace page in a new browser!

Admin CP -> User Profile Fields -> Add New User Profile Field

Choose "Single Line Text Box"

Title: MySpace ID
Display Order: (you choose!)
Field Required: (you choose!)
Field Editable by User: (you choose!)
Private Field: NO
Field Searchable on Members List: Yes
Show on Members List: (you choose!)
Display Page: Edit Profile

[SAVE]

NOTE:
You must now make a note of the field ID for your MySpace ID input. You can check what field ID is assigned by going to:

Admin CP -> User Profile Fields -> User Profile Field Manager

and looking at what ID is next to "MySpace ID"

For my instructions, i am going to use '99' as my Field ID, and you should change the number to suit what YOUR field ID is!

Go to AdminCP
Go to "Style Manager"
Go to "Edit Templates" for your theme.
Scroll down until you get to "Postbit Templates"
Open up either Postbit or Postbit Legacy (depending on what you use!)

Find in this template:

<if condition="$post['field2']"><div>$vbphrase[location_perm]: $post[field2]</div></if>

and below it, add:

<if condition="$post['field5']"><div>MySpace ID: <a href="http://www.myspace.com/$post[field5]" target="_blank">$post[field5]</a></div></if>

Save.

REMEMBER!! CHANGE THE [field99] to whatever field ID you have, i.e [field6] or [field9] !!

great job man, clicks install for my members.

I don't have a myspace account, so i used a false number to show an example of the set up. I attached an image of my setup in postbit legacy.

Rather than having a line that says "MySpace ID:" you could consider adding a small MySpace icon to the spot under the postcount where the other IM icons usually appear.

Actually the Myspace Postbit Mod in the 3.5 area works flawlessy for 3.6.1. This modification also includes the Myspace Icon within the IM icon area..

I like this one much better than having an icon. too many icons make for a cluttered page. Thsi keeps things very clean

I was looking for something that could help me get a specific link in the postbit... this is the best I could find but when trying to alter it just a tad.. well can't get it to work =0( Is there something I am doing wrong... Here's the code I am putting in where ya'll are putting it in..

<if condition="$post['field6']"><div><a href="http://breebux.smnlikdat.com/BreeBux.php?$post[field6]" target="_blank">View Statement</a></div></if>

What I am trying to do is use the the field to add in the users Nic so that it brings up the info on that member.. I'm so new at this.. is that code just not able to work here or there something else I am doing wrong that you can see... In the field6 I am just putting the user's Nic so that it will complete the address for that person.. Or does anyone know a better way of doing this... Like I said, I am sooo new at this LOL I hope ya'll can even understand my untechnical talk. Also this would work perfect as I JUST want this to display IF I put something in Field6 (Users can't edit) that way only people with BreeBux comes up... Make sense?

Thanks for any input in advance!
Always, Bree

Thanks for the code!!! Perfect solution for what I needed to do!

i came to get the icon for the myspace..... and your link gave me what i was looking for the last time... but not this time... this is the perfect example why i dont like linking to other people's sites......

its funny as hell though........

How would you go about making this work in the profile too? I want people to be able to click it in the profile as well.

You would need to edit the memberinfo template to show this in peoples profiles.

sorry, I'm confused here. You say you're using "field99" for your instructions but in the code you show there's no field99

So I do the same edit in the profile?
