Hello, I am using your skin BlaK-Ice on my VB forum and it works fine when someone is logged in.

But for guests or people not logged in, it looks horrible.

Any ideas why?

Thanks...

This is caused by having some forums outside of a "category". This has now been resolved and the xml file of this package has been updated ;)

on the fixed width, no images show and i have uploaded Blak-Ice into the images directory...know where i went wrong?

EDIT: Fixed, the image paths point to the forums directory instead of the image directory. So just make sure you upload into forums instead of forums->images

I love this skin and use it at my clans site for battlefield 2142 www.thepublicenemy.net.

The problem I have like most of the messages above mine. I need more buttons for the nav bar. I am pretty sure I could figure out how to insert them but I need to figure out how to make more. (Photoshop?)

Has anyone made and added more buttons on the navbar? I don't want to have to chage to a different skin.

It's a great style hoof, but it is missing the .psd file for buttons. If we had that, then we could modify our boards accordingly. Any chance on getting that small .psd file posted? :)

Hi,
I am thinking about using this theme, but what mod do you use to make your catergories appear the way it does on your site/screenshot? I have seen this for a few forums and would like to know it before I install this template (it looks AMAZING).

Awesome man. I love your skin but just needed to add more buttons like: Forum, Join Clan, etc.

Are the packaged buttons you are referring to easy to edit? Any idea when you will be adding the package? Are these new buttons easy to add to the navbar?

Thanks for all help and sorry for so many questions. :D :D :D :up:

Added! If you need any help or need any specialized buttons made for your forum we take requests on the Simplegfx.net/forums site :)

The space is limited on the navbar buttons you'll probably ony be able to squeeze 1 or 2 in :( I am using the Advanced Navbar Mod for additional links I want to add...hope this helps

Hoof, you mind if I add hover effects on the buttons and post them for people w/ the script? An example of what I'm talking about is at my site: www.onlinedebate.net

The nav buttons change color when hovered.

If not, no worries. I'm going to do it for my board, didn't know if it would be ok for me to post the changes here or not.

Despite installing the updated version, I'm still finding the last post columns don't align. I figured out how to fix that, only to discover the quick reply function still doesn't work either!

On the subject of the reply buttons, vB3.6.4 has a multi-quote option - this doesn't appear to exist, nor is there a multi-quote button image in the files. The quick reply button simply does nothing - although this function works fine on several other styles.

Also - the infractions code has been completely ommited - although an image has been provided!

I can fix the last post alignment and the missing infractions code with some template editing, but the quick reply & multi-quote problem has me baffled - if this code can be added-in somewhere I'd be grateful for the info.

Groans aside, this really is a great looking style. If the bugs can be fixed I'd be more than happy to use it. *installed (but not user selectable)*

*nb - I'm happy to make the qr and mq images myself - just need the correct code to make them work . . . please?

It looks like only the postbit template was modified. The postbit_legacy is unmodified and everything works fine. I use the legacy template, so all is well for me.

The graphics are included and everything works for the postbit_legacy.

Here are the graphics you are referring to just to show you they exist:
http://www.nephilimguild.com/forums/blak_ice/buttons/multiquote_off.gif

http://www.nephilimguild.com/forums/blak_ice/buttons/infraction.gif

What you may want to do, is make a copy of your postbit template into notepad or as postbit_backup, then revert the template and see if it works. As mentioned above, the default template of postbit_legacy has no problems.

Thanks for the reply, and your helpful comments. I can see where I went wrong now - I'd already installed the style from the 1st release, so I only imported the updated XML. I've found the images now :)

And yes you're right, we do use the postbit template. Folks have got used to it now, and it works well with the fluid styles. I'll try your suggestion regarding postbit/postbit legacy on my test board. If that doesn't work, maybe comparing the templates will lead to a coding solution eventually.

Thanks for the help :up:

Ok so with the help of Hoof I have decided to add something that is easier for me to do. I added an additional navbar but have one problem. I can't add it directly underneath the buttons navbar.

My post for help in another thread.

optrex,

I have looked in the navbar template but I don't see:

<!-- nav buttons bar -->
<div align="center">

in the navbar template. I am trying to install my additional navbar directly underneath the buttons. Currently it is attached to the welcome module. I put all my coding in the top of the navbar template but that doesn't work. See here:
www.thepublicenemy.net

What template do I need to modify for this to work?

Any ideas?

If you are trying to do this (http://www.nephilimguild.com/?styleid=10), then use this code (just copy/paste or examine the differences).

Template: navbar

<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function log_out()
{
ht = document.getElementsByTagName("html");
ht[0].style.filter = "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.BasicImage(grayscale=1)";
if (confirm('$vbphrase[sure_you_want_to_log_out]'))
{
return true;
}
else
{
ht[0].style.filter = "";
return false;
}
}
//-->
</script>

Hmmm I cannot get Blak-Ice to install... I ftp'd the black-ice folder in the "upload" folder to my forum's main folder.

I select the x.xml version for the XML and clicked import.

I get the error...
"No file uploaded and no local file found."

What am I missing??

Are you selecting the file via the browse button or trying to enter the path of the file that is now on your server? It's easiest to do the former.

In AdminCP, go to : Styles & Templats - Download/Upload Styles - Import Style XML File - browse to the proper file - click Import at the bottom of the page.

I'm guessing that you are trying to enter the path of the XML file that you recently uploaded to the server. If so, the proper path and file name must be in that field. I find it's always much easier to just upload/import the file from your own computer via the Browse button.

kewlpack
26 Jan 2007, 16:22
Yeah, I made sure I did the Browse process correctly.

According to Steve M., over at vbulletin.com/forum, the PHP.INI has a temp directory set improperly (or something like that) which the system can't access.

I have contacted my ISP to see if they'll get it fixed. I need to add a few mods too!

Thanks for the PSD files but they're not the same ... at least not the header buttons. I know I'm new at this so many I just have no clue what I'm doing but ... this is how it looks when I created one ...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v23/Godfather/different.jpg

The text is white instead of blue ... the background has a blue tint instead of gray. If someone has made a new posts button for this skin, maybe I could just steal yours since, as you can see, I can't even figure out how to get the shadow text below the word.

I love this skin though. My smilie pack that I've been using looks like crap against the dark background ... anyone got any good smilie packs you can recommend for dark skins?

As good as this navbar looks, I personally find that this coding technique makes it an extremely difficult and long-winded process to add extra buttons. Even when you go to the trouble of making the graphic and coding it in, it often looks "awry". I got around it by removing the navbar text from the header, and making the style a child of the default style. I also added the 2nd Navbar hack, and the overall effect blends in very well.

I've just got about got this style working right now - although there's a couple of minor amendments still to carry over from my test board.

If you'd like to see how it looks without the smart (but troublesome) navbar - click the link in my sig. And no - you don't need to register just to look ;)

I guess that could work as a last resort. I have the button up and it's linked for new posts so that's all fine ... I just need a better graphic to replace the button. :-/

I have many styles on my site also, I too was having that problem. To fix, you have to add those images to the folder listed if you right click/properties, via ftp. This will need to be done in numerous area. You uploaded everything correct, but adding styles can get confusing & alot of editing has to be done. I run 5 different styles on my site ATM.

Speedy, if you right click on the red X's, then select "Properties", it will give you the url of where your images are expected to be. Simply move them to the right directory using your ftp client.

I wasn't talking about that one. When a user is infracted, it logs it in their profile. The theme is looking for those images there. There were a couple other. Just double check all you images and make sure you have everything in the zip.

Also, the "advanced search" for threads takes you to the global advanced search.

there is a missing image in the misc folder. viewpost.gif

There's a simple answer to this one - create a copy of lastpost.gif and name it viewpost.gif - then upload it to the buttons folder (buttons is the correct location, not misc) You'll find that in most button/image sets these two images are usually the same anyway ;)

Hope that helps :up:

This obviously isn't my style to support, but I have spent a fair bit of time getting it to run right. To be honest, it's such a fine looking style as to be well-worth the hassles. The double-click to mark posts as read does work - at least it does both on my test board and main site. I'm afraid I can't tell you the cause of your own problem, but the style does have support for Ajax.

I have a question concerning the nav bar, I want to remove the box that surronds my icons;

http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/5692/blackicewn0.jpg

The code for it seemed complicated, so I changed it to a simple table. My header template for the nav bar reads;

<!-- Navbar -->

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
<tr>
<td><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_left2.gif" border="0"/></td>
<td><a href="http://www.bitclan.com"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_home2.gif"></a></td>
<td><a href="/roster.php"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_roster.gif"></a></td>
<td><a href="/server.php"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_server.gif"></a></td>
<td><a href="/screenshots.php"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_screenshots.gif"></a></td>
<td><a href="/news.php"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_news.gif"></a></td>
<td><a href="/map.php"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_map.gif"></a></td>
<td><a href="/chat.php"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_shoutbox.gif"></a></td>
<td><a href="/forum/arcade.php"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_arcade.gif"></a></td>
<td><a href="/wars.php"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_clanwars.gif"></a></td>
<td><a href="/archive.php"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_archive.gif"></a></td>
<td><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_right2.gif" border="0"/></td>
</tr>
</table>

I thought it was table padding at first but because of the change on mouseover (can't see it too well in the screen but box goes light blue) I guess it's a hyperlink property or something? How do I go about removing it, so there is no box box surrounding it? Also, how do I add a bin icon, instead of where it says x posts deleted?

EDIT:

Really like the skin btw :)

And I fixed it in the CSS. Anyone else who'd like it fixed just change the legend and <td>, <th>, <p>, <li> CSS so the font is something that shows up well on both gray and black and matches the theme to your liking.

When I edit the Navbar image, the color does not come out the same. How do I fix this?

pdisme
20 Feb 2007, 23:09
I'm completely new to vbulletin as of today so bear with me. :) I installed this skin and the only issue I have is the [More] link on the smilies box uses the same font as the grey background of that box so users can't see that there are more smilies available. Easy way to fix? I'm going to hunt for the place to fix it in the template but there's probably a more graceful way that I'm not aware of.

EDIT: I edited editor_smiliebox and added an style="color:#000000" to the anchor tag, problem solved.

Another issue; I installed two days ago and was having the multi-quote problem mentioned earlier in the thread. My download was well after the multi-quote was supposed to be fixed though it didn't fix it. Unfortunately I don't know how to set the board to use postbit vs postbit_legacy, I'm too new to it and don't really know how that works yet. :) What I did find though is some code that i commented out which seems to have fixed the multi quote problem; can someone tell me if this code was actually part of blak-ice or if one of my mods added it:

What was there with multi-quote broken:

<if condition="$show['spacer']">
</div>
$spacer_close
</if>
<!-- / post #$post[postid] -->

What I've changed to make it work, with nothing else seeming to break:

<if condition="$show['spacer']">
<!-- </div>
$spacer_close -->
</if>
<!-- / post #$post[postid] -->

I love the look of this style, and I'd like to use it.

It looks/works great in the vBulletin forum pages ("Grab1" below), but I can't get it to display correctly in related products like vBadvanced CMPS ("Grab2") and PhotoPost Pro ("Grab3").

I've already changed all image paths in the style to absolute rather than relative URLs. I thought that was the problem. It fixed *some* missing images, but not all.

I'm not real smart when it comes to PHP & the inner guts of vBulletin. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

I look in to this style and the person whom may it don't really support it anymore and there a ton of coding glitches. Cool but really worth it, no.

Very nice skin .... as mentioned above adding a "New Posts" button to the Navbar would be a nice addition.

Great job!

Upload the folder inside the "upload" folder in the zip/rar to your main forum root (public_html/forum) for example.. So you see (public_html/forum/blak_ice)

AdminCP --> Styles & Templates --> Style Manager --> Go to the bar of the theme --> Edit settings --> and change the title here.

The above code is located in your navbar. If you use vba pages and wish to have your Home button go to your vba page, edit that line of code with the following.
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="ADD YOUR SITE URL HERE[sessionurl_q]" accesskey="1">Home</a></td>

Right click on the banner in your Forum & vba page , if you use vba pages. Click Properties. You will see the url of that image, Look at the structure of that url, for example, lets use vb.org banner.

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/images/cstyle/green/vblogo.gif

In this example, you see you need to open your forum folder via ftp, then images, then cstyle, then green, you then over-write the vblogo.gif with the image you wish to be shown there. Repeat these steps with your vba page if you use vbadvance.

Great skin, And i hadn't found a problem till just installing Vbonjour. the navbits_finallink_ltr.gif isn't there (Reload this page). Checked on demo (http://simplegfx.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=207) and its not there either.

Edit: An example of the Button is here (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/images/misc/navbits_finallink_ltr.gif)

Edit: Nevermind, Found it, its just named slightly different. "navbits_finallink.gif"

I have the same problem. There is NO "vbmenu_control".... anywhere in "navbar" in my version. I downloaded and installed it, but I need this to direct to the main site.:confused:

I found it...Style manager>Common Templates>header> then scroll down to "<!-- Navbar -->" and Find:
<if condition="$show['member']">
<td align="center">
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
<td align="center"><a href="$vboptions[forumhome].php$session[sessionurl_q]" accesskey="1"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_home.gif" border="0"/></a></td>
And Replace with:
<if condition="$show['member']">
<td align="center">
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
<td align="center"><a href="http://www.YOUR SITE.com/"><img src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/nav_home.gif" border="0"/></a></td>
I hope this helps
