Really pleased this has arrived, though it comes with errors.
When a channel is created that appears happily within the forums it doesn't show in the portal (vBA)
In other words I have created the /Team channel. The channel image appears when in forumhome but no sign of the channel at all when in vBAdvanced.

Also the iFrame for scrolling the messages only appears when in forumhome, not in vBA.

Any ideas for fixing this please?

oh dear, just updated and now the shoutbox appears on the vBA but sits there 'Loading' :(
worse than before.

Just to explain.
I am running vB 3.7.0b4 with vBA 3.0 Gold.
Both vB and vBA are installed to the root.

The installation is a mirror of my 'Live' site running locally on a Linux (slackware) LAMPP server. There are no other mods/themes/anything, just naked and clean installations. Getting same results from FF/Opera/Safari and IE6/7

It's only loading for me on vbadvanced. Any fix for this? Using it on 3.6.8 Cause the old module will mess all up. The shoutbox itself works on forum, but the vbadvanced module does not.

Hey Strangger, I still don't know what I'm doing wrong. I had this same problem with the last version (non-Evo), and I'm still not able to install it correctly. I'm obviously making a stupid mistake, but I haven't been able to figure out what it is. I follow the instructions, but when I do the Upload module, it creates a module with no title.

Any ideas?

Having problems here.
I updated to the latest version of the chatbox, following instructions carefully, but on the vBA page there is now no input box. Everything else is working alright, and on the forumhome all works perfectly.

I tried reconfiguring, then totally uninstalling then a clean re-install but still the same end result, no chat input box.

The module shows up, but without an input box. It varies slightly to the display when logged out, in that it shows a private channel (empty) and appropriate icons for a logged in user.

I'm running the Chatbox on vBulletin 3.6.8 with vBa 3.0 Gold installed. Any chance this could be made compatible with 3.6.8? I just went through the install process and it is not working so I am assuming it isn't currently compatible.

The input box reads from the adv_portal_mgc_evo_editor template...

Uninstall everything..
Deleting mgcchatboxevo module from the FTP and the three templates..
adv_portal_mgc_evo,,adv_portal_mgc_evo_editor,,adv_portal_mgc_cb_evo_box

If that doesnt work,,,do you mind if I have a look ??

I'm not sure if you were talking to me anywhere but here....The Chatbox works fine everywhere except for a few of VBDev's own minor bugs that the box had, everything seems pretty solid with his newest release though. Since the Chatbox worked on 3.6, I figured the vBa addition would too. Maybe not?

loaded the english but got a little french intro lol.......entrez votrez chat

The problem with the engish is you need to import the english lang .xml file that comes with the main MGC chat..

This hack shouldnt have anything to do with the announcements box..

One problem I see with your site is,,,theres no www in your links..
When I view your site from the link in your sig,,,it starts off with the www and then changes to links without...
Look in your admincp >> vBulletin Options >> Site Name / URL / Contact Details
and see if theres www in your links...

You can edit entrez votrez chat by going into your
admincp >> MGC Chatbox Evo >> Chats formatting:
Scroll to the bottom: Message to display in the input field on page load

And is set on usergroup permissions too..
In your usergroup permissions find:MGC Chatbox Evo : Custom permissions

Hi everyone, greetings from Greece.

I followed the procedure descibed in Installation instuctions but all the messages in admincp, help tooltips etc are in French.
I uploaded the english language(xml) file from the beginning but the problem is still there.

* Edit : I solved the problem by uploading the English xml found in installation package for the chatbox over the Greek Language. Of course everything that was in Greek messed up, but French messages are now in English.
Then I uploaded again the Greek language xml, and Greek phrases are now ok, leaving English phrases for the MGC Chatbox Evo. Lucky me....

Its hard to tell not being able to see the back end..

One last thing to try or make sure..

admincp >> MGC Chatbox Evo >> Display and position,,

Make sure the (Display on defined pages of the forum under the navbar)
is set to No..

Make sure the (Display the chatbox on defined pages in a variable)
is set to Yes..

(List of the other forum pages)
put adv_index in the box,,,then click save at the bottom..

Smilies selected from the More option don't seem to have the right path on the vBAdvanced CMPS Homepage... The initial few that appear under the window do have the right path though..

Where might I look to straighten that out?

(Moving away from the CMPS Homepage, smilies that were selected using the more option appear correctly. Right clicking the red x on the CMPS page shows that the /Forums/ directory is absent from the path.)

I believe I did but to be brutally honest - I don't specifically recall. Is there a means to update the paths for the smiles that might be installed? (I disable the chat window on the CPMS front page and all is well but - I sorta liked having it out here!)

Thanks

Just re-run the CPMS install. I think there is a link to fix smilies but not sure. Install is in the /admincp and labelled, or just look for the file name in the zip

Hello there - I had another mod do the same thing. It appeared to be referenced perfectly with the pages specific to CMPS but no matter, it still didn't prefix the URL properly.
So...

I know I'm not supposed to need to do it but, I located mgc_cb_evo_editor in all the styles I use and found the two links that reference full mode:

<a href="mgc_cb_evo.php?$session[sessionurl]do=view_chatbox" target="_blank"><img class="inlineimg" id="mgc_cb_evo_fullmode" title="$vbphrase[mgc_cb_evo_fullmode]" src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/mgc_cb_evo/mgc_cb_evo_full.gif" alt="$vbphrase[mgc_cb_evo_fullmode]" border="0" /></a>
<else />
<a href="mgc_cb_evo.php?$session[sessionurl]do=view_chatbox" target="_top"><img class="inlineimg" id="mgc_cb_evo_fullmode" title="$vbphrase[mgc_cb_evo_fullmode]" src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/mgc_cb_evo/mgc_cb_evo_full.gif" alt="$vbphrase[mgc_cb_evo_fullmode]" border="0" /></a>

And prefixed mgc_cb_evo.php with $vboptions[bburl]/ as seen below:

<a href="$vboptions[bburl]/mgc_cb_evo.php?$session[sessionurl]do=view_chatbox" target="_blank"><img class="inlineimg" id="mgc_cb_evo_fullmode" title="$vbphrase[mgc_cb_evo_fullmode]" src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/mgc_cb_evo/mgc_cb_evo_full.gif" alt="$vbphrase[mgc_cb_evo_fullmode]" border="0" /></a>
<else />
<a href="$vboptions[bburl]/mgc_cb_evo.php?$session[sessionurl]do=view_chatbox" target="_top"><img class="inlineimg" id="mgc_cb_evo_fullmode" title="$vbphrase[mgc_cb_evo_fullmode]" src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/mgc_cb_evo/mgc_cb_evo_full.gif" alt="$vbphrase[mgc_cb_evo_fullmode]" border="0" /></a>

Pages work fine in and out of CMPS now... for me anyways :)

Has anyone determined how to fix the continual "loading..." message? The Chatbox on the forum home page works fine, it's just this module that doesn't work. The thing is I've installed this on 2 other sites that were running 3.7.0 and I manually upgraded them to 3.7.1. On the site I'm currently working on is a automatic fresh install with the install script. I'm also using vba 3.0.1. I've double and triple checked all the settings according to the install instructions. Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

If that's the case then it should work. You edit the advanced page stuff?

Yes, all forums are 3.7.x and running vBa 3.0.1. I have not changed the advanced options on the MGC Chatbox, and I understand that it "should" work, but it isn't. :)

 Ok what does all that mean?

I'm checking vbAdvanced's site. I think it's with that. Do me a favor, check the vbAd diagnostics and make sure it says 3.0.1 and not 3.0.0. Because 3.0.0 has that security issue from what I'm reading.

And you run TalkPA? Looks pretty nice like the others. Found some threads in there I might signup for to reply to.

According to vbAdvanced site, this is not an error from this. According to Vbulletin not one as well.

I think this is the chat itself. That 2nd error I've seen before. You are running 1.5 of the module right? Sounds like we might have to wait for VbDev to reply.

Confirmed - vBa 3.0.1 All sites.

As far as TalkPA, No. I only run TalkVirginia and Knights Vindication, however I'm helping with setup and administration of TalkMaryland and Friendship-Cafe.

Make sure the (Display on defined pages of the forum under the navbar)

Make sure the (Display the chatbox on defined pages in a variable)

(List of the other forum pages)
put adv_index in the box,,,then click save at the bottom..
I found my answer. I had both of those ^ set to yes.

Yup, that's the one and the chat works fine 'within' the forum on forum and thread pages. It's just on the cmps portal page that I get the loading... stuck and the error message when I try to post.

OK, maybe I'm too stupid but I really don't understand what you're talking about. What you mean with "main chat install"? The installation files themselves ([vB3.6.x-vB3.7.x]MGC_Chatbox_Evo_1.0.0.zip)?

Is it so difficult to post the exact URL where to download the main chat install (if it isn't the ZIP file mentioned above)?

Or do we talk around each other and I'm on a totally wrong track? Than I apologize, live with my ignorance and figure it out myself, as soon as I find time for it.

It's not calling files. It's calling templates.

This addon is not the full install. Make sure you install the evo chat, then add the module.

And read step 1 again.

New how to install:
1:
Admincp >> MGC Chatbox Evo>> Display and position >>
Display on defined pages in a variable set to Yes..
and in the Other pages list,, put adv_index in that box...

so type in adv_index in that box. done.

The above instructions described with "Adding .." and "after this,," are too vague for me to understand. Please use whole sentences and tell us what steps to perform so that the box appears on the homepage.

Its partly fixed. I got impatient and uninstalled this module as per instructions and then also removed MGC Chatbox evo via its intructions and reinstalled both. Hey presto the box appeared. (for people with the same issue: I was also getting a blank white box on the preview screen of VBa CMPS for this module)

I *think* (not sure) I may have deleted some weird files that were still lingering from a previous MGC Chatbox version in the cleanup after this uninstall so that could have been a problem. I used the uninstall instructions for v1.4 of the previous MGC Chatbox to uninstall it .. but I had used at least ibshoutbox and one other chat mod before that so .. there was some debris from one of them left that must have been messing up the "below navbar" area.

Currently the box shows, also doesnt have the "Loading..." issue but when I tpye something in, I get a 404 error on the php file of chatbox. I think there was solution for that somewhere in this thread.. Ill go hunting.

stangger5 Im sorry for my last post sounding a little .. impatient. Its just that often when people who know the software very well post instructions on what to do, they are missing some little important details that are completely obvious for themselves but not to a newbie :).

I'm still having "loading" problems on one of my forums even though it works fine in the other..
I've tried all of the fixes I've seen here.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact my forum is installed onto my server root and I have the CMPS set as index.php while the forum is forum.php?

You are running a Release Candidate for CMPS. Upgrade to 3.0.1 then start to troubleshoot.

The loading issue is a security/token issue. If it's apache, you have to enable mod_security.
