View Full Version : Show Thread Enhancements - Sticky background color change

23 Feb 2008, 18:18
Simple template mod, updated from my 3.5.x mod.

ACP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Edit Templates -> Threadbit

<td class="alt1" id="td_threadtitle_$thread[realthreadid]" title="$thread[preview]">

Replace with:

<!-- Sticky Color -->
<if condition="$thread['sticky'] == 1">
<td class="stickybg" id="td_threadtitle_$thread[realthreadid]" title="$thread[preview]">
<else />
<td class="alt1" id="td_threadtitle_$thread[realthreadid]" title="$thread[preview]">
<!-- /Sticky Color -->

Then create the CSS class:

ACP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Style Name -> Main CSS -> Additional CSS Definitions

Add the following:

background-color: #333333;

Change the red code to your new color.

Was wondering how to do this....Thanks a lot.

23 Apr 2008, 19:54
I already had this done (perhaps another mod - not this one) and had my stickies, subscribed threads, moderated threads, announcements, etc all custom colored. My additional css had this originally...

/* ***** make announcements, stickies, moderated, polls and soft deleted posts pretty ***** */
.announcement {
background-color: #f9e0fb;
color: #4D528C;
border-left: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
border-top: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
.sticky {
background-color: #fefdf0;
color: #4D528C;
border-left: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
border-top: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
.poll {
background-color: #bcdcf2;
color: #4D528C;
border-left: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
border-top: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
.moderated {
background-color: #f9e0fb;
color: #4D528C;
border-left: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
border-top: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
.subscribed {
background-color: #dcf2d4;
color: #4D528C;
border-left: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
border-top: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
.deleted {
background-color: #ffc1de;
color: #4D528C;
border-left: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
border-top: 1px solid #FFFFFF;

The problem is now, it is not working, ineffective basically. The only thing that does work after upgrading vbulletin today is announcements retained its pink background color. I used this mod and modified it to work for sticky, but the rest are ineffective. How can I go about reversing so what I originally had will work?

My threadbit template is:

<td class="alt1" id="td_threadstatusicon_$thread[realthreadid]">
<img src="$stylevar[imgdir_statusicon]/thread$thread[statusicon].gif" id="thread_statusicon_$thread[realthreadid]" alt="<if condition="$show['threadcount']"><phrase 1="$thread[dot_count]" 2="$thread[dot_lastpost]">$vbphrase[have_x_posts_in_thread_last_y]</phrase></if>" border="" />

Instead of a color, I assume that you could replace the background color with a custom gradient as well? Just curious...

Installed. Thank you, I like it.

I wanted to do this
but at the end I was not able to find this

background-color: #333333;

Because I have non default skins would that be the problem?

I tried to install it on Crime Case Files

you have to add that code to your Additional CSS Definitions for the skin you are adding to

Works great thanks for this

02 Jun 2009, 05:17
For some reasons the stickies are centered now.

Can I correct this? They look a bit awkward when all the other threads are left justified.

02 Jun 2009, 05:38

Turns out the "sicky" is the same color as the background color. I tried changing the color of the word 'sticky' but no luck. Any advice?

18 Jun 2009, 18:40
Thanks! Just what I needed.

18 Aug 2009, 18:50
FYI..this works on 3.7.4 and 3.8.4 :-P

16 Oct 2009, 08:38
anyone know to the reason why the word "Sticky:" is no longer viewable? I had this installed on 3.7.4 and upgraded to 3.8.4 and it still works. I just recently created a new vbulletin starting out with 3.8.4 and the word "Sticky:" is not viewable. I even tried add this:

.stickyprefix {

into the Additional CSS Definitions and still no luck :(

12 Jan 2010, 07:01
works great on 3.8.4 , thanks (Click here for preview (http://www.cyberdeals.be))

19 Jan 2010, 03:37

Just installed this on another 3.8.4 forum and werked with no probs...

25 Feb 2011, 01:09
Anyone know how to work this on vB4?

16 Apr 2011, 11:28
Im using 3.8.4 and getting errors

<td class="alt1" id="td_threadtitle_$thread[realthreadid]" title="$thread[preview]">

should be

<td class="alt1" id="td_title_$thread[realthreadid]" title="$thread[preview]">

05 May 2011, 01:46
This worked perfectly on 3.8.7 for a new site I'm setting up :up:

I added an image as the background instead of just color. See here for a demo: United States History Forum (http://www.unitedstateshistoryforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2)

Edited: Also remember to add the a:link, a:visited, a:hover, and a:active CSS as well to ensure that your links are showing correctly since you are removing alt1 and replacing it with the new one (stickybg). :up:
