They are compatible with FF 3. I use it with no problems. Try checking that you are posting a video that is still on youtube.

I'll need a link to the posts and to the YouTube videos in order to begin troubleshooting what the problem may be.

I use the AME for vB 3.6. How can i add the new definitions? (I need EA Sports Wold for vB 3.6, DJ's AME is already installed!)
Are you sure my definitions are "installed", because that's how you add new definitions. You just import them through your AME CP.

The Video Embeds for YouTube aren't compatible with Firefox 3! They won't load, help please.
Their showing up fine for me also in FF3. Make sure your just not looking at an unrelated problem, like no-flash plugin for FF, embedding disabled by the author of the video, site maintenance where YouTube disables embedding site-wide or just general slowdown. Also, you should always link me to the problem so I can help troubleshoot.

I just had one of my users tell me that the video posted wouldnt show for him, and helped him troubleshoot. Turns out that hes using Firefox and he didnt manually update his flash player.
The new FF has that issue, so if you cannot see the videos in your posts, get the manual update for Flash. Sadly, it was the last thing I looked at to help him

Also, did you have any luck with clip-bucket Jedi?

Haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I'm going though each of the requests in order and will release most, if not all, on the next update.

Oh, and yes, I will be doing a Master XML update for the current stable version of AME first, and then for 2.5RC1 once that's done. The reason I changed my mind and decided to do it that way, is there's quite a few sites in the Master that need updating, and I'm going to have to redo them all anyway. This way, I can start with a corrected version for 2.5 without having to do a bunch of backtracking.

Wouldn't be Auto Media Embedding if it didn't embed the video. ;)

This Is what i get also " Automatically embed media (requires automatic parsing of links in text to be on). "

It means that Auto Parsing must be turned on. Most likely if you don't know what that is, then you already have it turned on, as that's a default setting in vB. Auto Parsing is just when your posts convert URLs into clickable links.

Could you please link me to some examples so I can see what's going on?

Looks like the embed code was changed, which means the Extraction ReGex needs to be udpated. Don't worry. I'll have an update for that one too.

DJ question on Associate links. I put a link to the MP3 store in my forums:

http://www.amazon.com/MP3-Music-Download/b/ref=sv_m_7?ie=UTF8&node=163856011

It added my associate ID to the end but that made the link invalid. How can we properly do links?

Did you add your associate ID to the Replacement HTML or to the link? My affiliate link is in there as an example, and as I explain in my second post, if you want to change it to yours you'd just replace it there. If your appending your links with your ID while posting, then that's probably the problem, as it would still be adding my ID at the end with yours.

UPDATES!

This will probably be the last update for a little while, baring any requests or new one's made by the community. I stumbled across three definitions AdemGENÇ had made, so I went through them, updated them because the sites had changed their URL structures again, and put them in this new update.

The updates include:

Bebo (Does not embed most recent KateModern videos)
Izlesene
Izleturk
Mynet Eksenim
Raw Vegas
RockYou
SlideShare
YouKu
YouKu (Playlists)

EDIT: I fixed MyNet to work with their new site, and I thought I'd just throw Bebo in there, too, since I got it working. The only thing Bebo will not work with, is the most recent videos posted by one of their sponsored video bloggers, KateModern. I'm afraid this particular problem can't be fixed.

rawvegas doesnt work for me anymore :(

It depends on if you use different types of media for your site. Since the only thing that changes in your URL is the file ID, then you'd only be able to embed once kind of media type. In other words, I could make a definition for FLV videos, but it would not work with WMV, DIVX or any other kind of videos your hosting. The key is the URL. URLs need to be distinct to the type of media used.

If that's the case, then we should be able to make it work. What I'd need from you is some example URLs and the embed code from the videos. Oh, and an exorbitant amount of patience as my list of definitions is getting a little backlogged as I add new ones to the list. :)

Is there a way around the 30-second music preview from Imeem that you get on the forums or is it just stuck like that and one has to suck it up and deal with it?

EDIT

Ok, it only does that on certian albums and only on the forums, because when I log in on the site or even click the expandable window, it goes to the full songs within the play list. Is it just an error in the play list coding, or does Imeem hate me?

Yeah, they got a new flash player. Actually, it's kind of nice. Just drop this in your GoEar definition's Replacement HTML until the next update.

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="353" height="132"><param name="movie" value="http://www.goear.com/files/external.swf" /><param name="FlashVars" value="file=$p1" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><embed src="http://www.goear.com/files/external.swf" width="353" height="132" flashvars="file=$p1" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent"></embed></object>

That fixed the problem. Thanks.

Yes. I have made the changes as suggested by Digital Jedi and everything appears to be fine now but only with new posts that contains GoEar links. Old posts seems to do not "recognize" the update.

hello DJ.
first off, awsome work:).

secondly, i wanted to ask a few basic things, sorry for my being too illiterate in this field:)

I have downloaded and installed "The Geek's" AME2.0.2 Mod a few days back.

But the following link doesnt work in it. Meaning, my user posted it and it appeared as a link and not the video clip:

http://blip.tv/file/get/BrassTacks-ep5257.flv

you can refer to the thread where he posted at :

http://www.familybunker.com/forums/showthread.php?p=21480#post21480

Now I am a bit confused whether AMR2.0.2 provides URL embedding for all the 170 sites he mentioned, or am i supposed to download your mod and install it. Would it workd with the AME2.0.2? or should i first un-install that and then install yours?

I am sorry if i am asking too much obvious questions....but can you help please?

thanx

Well, this a really great addon and I used it to replace an older one which ist not longer supported. Unfortunately Videos from MyVideo.de or MyVideo.co.za are not showing up.

When I use the simple link withe the correct number, it only shows up as a text link:
http://www.myvideo.de/watch/482082

When I use the complete link with title http://www.myvideo.de/watch/482082/Take_Off_A330_Rwy_16_Zuerich it shows up a player, but not with the clip which is in the title, although the link in top of the player links directly to the correct movie :(

Any suggestions what to modify? Did I make somthing wrong? I used the last XMLs I could find.....

If you can manage to make it work, that would be great. The problem I had, though, was not being able to backreference the pertinent data.

Not so much removed, but more like it needs to be accounted for. There's more then one way to access Vimeo and those that do get their with the www will need it to remain. This will be addressed in the next update.

Locally Hosted means just that; video hosted on the local domain. For other member's sites to work, you'd need a definition for each of their websites.

Here you go. Maybe you can make one for the music too??
http://www.extremewatercross.net
I'll be sure to look it over when I catch up with my backlog.

Daily motion's not working for me. Im using the latest xml that was posted. All I get is the blank white box with the words Daily Motion on top.
I know this was a little while back, but do you still have the problem? I've worked on so many the last month, I don't recall if this is one problem I already addressed for the next udpate. But if it is a definition problem, it's been address for that release.

It depends on the song, most likely. Try to avoid embeding songs that have an expiration date, like from temp playlists (presuming they still do this). Mostly, it's just Imeem's funny coding practices. Although, I do have another update coming for them, so maybe this will address some of your issues.

Hi DJ,
Do you think u can embed this site videos ?

http://www.manga.com/channels/scream
I will look it over and let you know for sure.

Yes. I have made the changes as suggested by Digital Jedi and everything appears to be fine now but only with new posts that contains GoEar links. Old posts seems to do not "recognize" the update.

Any ideas? Thanks in advice
I'm not certain, but I believe it depends on your version of AME. I'm trying to answer questions pretty fast since I'm back up here, so I didn't quite look back to what your problem was. But most of the time, changes I've made to definitons have adjusted older posts. There's also of the issue of chached pages, which can depend on your site and on the version of AME your running.

hello DJ.
first off, awsome work:).

secondly, i wanted to ask a few basic things, sorry for my being too illiterate in this field:)

I am sorry if i am asking too much obvious questions....but can you help please?

thanx
These are the definitions for the AME modification, so you'd have to import these through its built in import system to get support for the 170 sites. AME only comes with a handful of default supported sites to keep it lite. The import system allows for people like me to keep adding support for new sites, without the author having to do it himself and constantly upating, which is why (for the moment) we're way ahead of passiVid in terms of supported sites. Anyone can make a definition if they know what they're doing.

Your trying to use the source URL for Blip. You don't need to do that. Just use the link to the page the video is on, just like you would if you where posting the link to the video otherwise.

OK DJ, i have installed you mod and rebuild the posts, but the url still doesnt show video:(
I am on vb3.7.3

following is the link to the thread where i am trying to post the video:

http://www.familybunker.com/forums/showthread.php?p=21518#post21518

what is the reason?

Also, i wanted to know that i have installed the MAster file.
do i need to separately install the other zip folders too?

please advice..
The Master XML is if you want to install all the supported definitions at one time.
The ZIP File is for those who want to pick and choose which sites to add.
Local Hosted is a seperate Zip file for video your hosting on your personal site.

Gamespot is still showing wrong things (beside the video that's ok). It shows
GameSpot Video: Mirror\\\\'s Edge Gameplay Movie 2
after the video player. An example in here: http://www.consolegames.ro/forum/f7-news/1708-demo-mirror-s-edge-lansat/#post19252 ([/CODE]

before the video player and

[CODE])

Can it be fixed, pls ?

Sorry, because the quoted message, it's not showing correctly on this post...
I actually don't know what causes that, for sure. It only happens to me when I edit the video. Are you getting it when posted as new? If so, I may have to do something drastic for GameSpot.

Anybody has the new auto embed code for goear.com ??
I posted the code a page or two back. I'll have the new definitions available soon.

Can you add [URL]http://www.shadowspear.com/videos ?
I will look into them for sure.

I just tried to import the file DJ's Master XML.xml. I get a message that says:

What is going wrong?
Your getting a database error, which could be any number of things. Make sure your importing them through the actuall AME CP, and not the Admin CP's Product Manager.

Great mod and list of definitions! However, I notice there's nothing on iKlipz, can we get a definition for that? http://www.iklipz.com
I will look into them also.

I think youtube has changed it's code, as it doesn't play high quality anymore (but we get a bouble where it says "click here to play in high quality"). Also, some of them start playing with their "see more" browser active... very strange.
They done quite a bit of maintanace over the last month, as recent as two nights ago. It was halfway exprected, as I didn't really think the high quality setup they had would be permanant. It kind of felt like a test run.

How can I use my links to my videos to link in my forum?
my video site http://www.speedaholic.net/view.php?pg=videos

This url I tryed to put in post is http://speedaholic.powertvonline.com/video/7297

<embed src="http://www.powertvonline.com/xp2/c3BlZWRhaG9saWMucG93ZXJ0dm9ubGluZS5jb20/7297/1269/off" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="430" height="343"></embed>
You deleted the thread, so I can't check for you what you where doing. However, the Local Hosted are for specific media types: Flash, WMV, DIVX etc. It looks like you have your own embed code, so a special definition for your site would be required.

Greetz

Jo
Possibly a change in the sites URL string. I "think" I just did an update for them on the last run through, but I'll have to check to be sure. Look for them on the next update.

Can someone make an XML file, or tell me how to embed videos from http://www.apacheclips.com

:)
If no one beats me to it, I'll look it over, too.

Digital Jedi, do you think you can fix the videos from gamespot.com (and others) that requires you to enter your birthday to be able to watch the movie ? I mean, this kind of videos will only show an "undefined" red value after entering a good birthday. You can check with a video like this: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/farcry2/video/6199377/far-cry-2-map-editor-movie-2?hd=1
Thx in advance !
I'm afraid that is soley a GameSpot problem. I tested their embed code on a regular HTML page and got the same problem. I did a random Google search, and even videos posted on blogs and websites have the "undefined" problem. It's not related to the RegEx, it's something GameSpot is going to have to fix with their media.

what i s AME Cp in admincp
If you've installed AME, you'll see you know have an AME CP, which is a new menu in your Admin CP.

What i must do, that swf files will be shown, that i upload? I get only the Link in my atachments.
As mentioned in the first post, this will not embed attachments. You need to post the physical location of the video, complete with it's media extention, like .flv, .wmv, .divx, etc. AME determines what to embed based on those unique identifiers, which is why it won't work with attachements, becasuse they all have the same URL string, like www.yoursite.com/attachment.php?123456 (http://www.yoursite.com/attachment.php?123456). AME has now way of knowing if if that's a media attachment or a PDF file or a picture, much less which type of video it might be.

Thanks for the addon!

Question 1

I have @ 90 small avi clips hosted on my server and would like to use the mod for them. Is there a avi xml? Other wise I will need to convert them to another format, or is this statement incorrect?

Question 2

I have got the You Tube site working with out any glitches but when trying to get local hosted files to play I have not had any luck. I have attached what I have set all 5 local files to. I have marked up the attached photo with my settings, could someone take a look and see if I have done something incorrect. I have changed the folder that I have the videos in to chmd 777 also

Thanx in Advance!

Stagehand
At one time, I tried making a AVI definition, but never got it working, and figured not too many people would be looking for one, so I abandoned it. You'd probably be better off converting them if you can. I believe DIVX has some tools to do so.

You don't need to do anything to the key, what you havn't done is change YOUR_SITE_NAME_HERE in the Regular Expression. Put your domain name in, just without the .com or .co.uk or however whatever your domain extention is.

I'm no expert on these defs, but I think IGN has changed their link style. I'm pretty sure they were working before, but now the link gets embedded and the header is the correct link, but the video is either non-existent or points to the wrong place. I'll look at the def and see if I can come up with a workaround and post it for review....

EDIT:
Well upon further review, it looks like they've started mixing their embedding styles... Here is the link I'm working with:

http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/articles/924651/xbox-experience-video/videos/xbox_exp_noisetest_102908.html

By looking at the IGN def it looks like it is looking for an object_ID code in the source html file, which for this particular page, there isn't one... I've tried embedding other videos from this site and it works fine. In this particular page, they have this javascript code in the header
<script>
var vp_lowResFlash = 'xbox360movies.ign.com/xbox360/video/article/924/924651/xbox_exp_noisetest_102908_flvlowwide.flv';

Anyone able to put together one for the Toronto Sun website? Here's an example:

http://www.torontosun.com/video/

Much, much appreciated if this is possible! :)
They would have worked fine, but they don't offer any kind of permalink. So there's no way to even link back to a video. That's odd for a site to not offer direct links to their videos. (CNN notwithstanding)

I'm a little upset with this site. They kind of tricked me. I spent quite a bit of time sorting out the peculiarities in their URL/Embed strings, and finally worked it out, only to find the <iframe> they use for their so called embeds is just a picture of a DIVX player that links to the page the video is on. They are essentially lying that they supply embed code, so I'm none to happy with them right now.

Don't worry. I'll get back to them after I've had a chance to cool off.

Please add support for this: http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/10/25/youtube-enables-deep-linking-within-videos/
I can support the auto conversion so that links like that will convert to a player, but I do not know how to make the embed behave this way. I suspect it's a bit of javascript built into the YouTube site.

Can someone make an XML file, or tell me how to embed videos from http://www.apacheclips.com

I have one which I'll post shortly, but it will only support media that's actually hosted on Apache Clips. Not anything hosted on another site like YouTube are anything like that.

***UPDATES***

I don't even have the time (and more honestly, the memory) to tell you what all is included in this update. It's a lot. Both new and remade definitions. I'll list them all here, but I won't be able to do my usual detailed explanation of what's what, mainly because I've been working in it so long, I kind of forget what all I changed site by site. Also, there was no point making you update a bunch of seperate XLMs, so your getting a brand new Master XML file. It's not completely redone, as I've only gotten about halfway through the full list, but it's just too large a list of updates to make you import one at a time, so the most sensible thing would be to have you start fresh. Export any custom definitions you want to keep, and delete everything else to import these.

On the other hand, for Local Hosted definitions, I only revamped one, and made another. So there's no need to delete all your Local Hosted if you don't have to. Just delete MP3 to import these and do the proper edits.

And here's the list. I hope you enjoy.

Here is my contribution to the site Xfire.com. I do not have much experience with regex, but I believe that Digital Jedi will update my code if necessary before add to the official list.

video.mail.ru

Please, add to common pack.

If I forgot to add anyone to the co-creators list, let me know.

I can support the auto conversion so that links like that will convert to a player, but I do not know how to make the embed behave this way. I suspect it's a bit of javascript built into the YouTube site.

Ah, yes... I just read somewhere that the deep linking feature is not yet available for embeds.

I'm sure it's nice to have the added work you've done to the master list, but it would be handy to have the added work saved to it's own xml for install. ;)

I tried uploading the new master list xml, deselected all of which I have installed already because the duplicate code thing....but it still tells me that I have duplicate codes found and won't continue. Not sure what I'm not doing or doing wrong.

That's a preventive measure in AME 2.0+ to keep you from importing duplicate definitions. I didn't think there was a way to "deselect" definitions during import. You have to delete all your existing definitions, with maybe the exception of Local Hosted, and import the new one.

Note that I've dropped support for LongIslandOnline.

When you upload the new xml, you have the option of deselecting "yes" to import through each and every definition. But apparently it doesn't like you doing that as it still won't accept those parameters.

Raw Vegas should be working. Remember, in my notes I mentioned that Raw Vegas uses Javascript to generate their player, and the inline AJAX elements of vB don't like external Javascript. The video will still show to anyone loading the page, but on the initial Quick Reply/Quick Edit, you won't see anything until you refresh the page.

Which definitions have you decided you don't want to delete. It's possible you still have some duplicate definitions.

I just went the route of deselecting every definition of the ones I already have and wanted to upload the new definitions that make up the xml file. I haven't went the route of deleting all definitions and re-installing the new xml yet.

If you haven't made any crucial edits to your existing definitions, then the best thing would be to just delete them all and import the new Master. Just picking the ones you have will mean you'll miss out on a large number of definitions that I had to completely redo because the sites changed their embed code and/or URL structure. Some definitions have been split into two definitions and some have been changed completely due to domain name changes.

No, as I said, I didn't add anything to the Main ZIP. I'll do individual XML inclusions a little bit later, but I have some other things to catch up on for the moment. If you have all sites installed anyway, the best thing to do is delete all and import the Master.

2.5 beta , file cache is on , Extract destination data is on ,

Daily motion regex is

Extract destination data is
http://[w\.]*dailymotion\.[com|alicet\.]+/swf/([\w]*)

Oh, it's more involved then that. Try building your definition inside the AME CP rather then trying to make an XML file from scratch. From what I can see, you don't need an Embed Regexp and you've just used embed code from a random definition rather then using the code your site actually uses. Also, your RegEx pattern doesn't even remotely match your website URLs. Go to post 3 in this thread and read over the tutorials if you interested in making them yourself. Your regex has to match your site URLs, and your site's URLs don't use the words view_video in their strings and their not PHP pages. Something like:

http://www.561palmbeach.com/video/[\d]+/[\w-]+

But that's only part of it. I'll add it to the list for next update, but in the meantime, you should look those resources over.

The embedded regular expression is not returning anything although it appears to be correct. Could you please have a look?
First, ensure extraction is also on in the Global Settings for AME. Then check to see that your Embed Regexp can actually pull the data from the source of the page. One of the mistakes I almost always make is to presume that because the embed code is located in the page, that it will also be in the Source Code HTML of the page, which is where the Emebed Regexp actually looks. But often that isn't the case, so the RegEx can't find a match. But most of the time you can get around that by checking to see if the numbers/letters/IDs you need are located in the Source HTML somewhere and match them instead of trying to match patterns in the embed code. It will still work, because the variables will still parse to their corresponding group.

I'm having a problem with the blip.tv code from the latest version. Using one of the examples given in the first reply, when I try to embed http://blip.tv/file/591048 I get:

2008-11-06 20:53:17: (mod_fastcgi.c.2592) FastCGI-stderr: PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '(' in includes/ame_bbcode.php(323) : regexp code on line 1

Happy to help test anything!
Heh, that threw me for a minute. This exact Bridgetdale video is the one I use for my base test.

Are you using AME 2.5? I think Blip has some trouble with new BETA.

Hi DJ,
Can you give me an example of how patterns can be matched in source HTML?

Hi DJ,
Can you give me an example of how patterns can be matched in source HTML?
Just look at the source code in your browser (View >> Source) and look for the numbers/letters you need (use the Find option in whatever program opens up the source code). Build your Embed Regexp to match the area where the ID number appears in the code consistently. Group the area in the RegEx that needs to be referenced and put the $ variable wherever that group should go in the Replacement HTML It's going to be different for every site, so there's no real example. Take a look at the extraction RegEx for a bunch of different definitions and you'll see that it's almost always something unique to the website.

Best I could compare it to is, say you need an ID number for the embed code that isn't in the URL string. Say your embed code's video source is www.video.com/vidID=123456.flv (http://www.video.com/vidID=123456.flv). Well, 123456 isn't in the URL. The URL just says www.video.com/u/wow-what-a-dog!.html (http://www.video.com/u/wow-what-a-dog!.html). So your going to have to look for 123456 in the source code. Thing is, www.video.com/vidID=123456.flv (http://www.video.com/vidID=123456.flv) is not in the HTML of the page either. So you have to get those numbers some other way.

You look at the source code of a few pages and you notice that the vidID is there in the pages, it's just not like it is in the embed code. In this hypothetical example lets say it's found like this in the source of the page: src="/getplayer/v=id123456.flv"

So, you build your RegEx to match this for the extraction RegEx: src="/getplayer/v=id([\d]+)\.flv I grouped the area with ID number because that's what I'm going to refrence in my embed code. So that part in the embed code Replacement HTML will look like www.video.com/vidID=$p1.flv (http://www.video.com/vidID=$p1.flv)

***UPDATES (Part 2)***
This of this an addendum to the last update. Individual files have now been added to the Main ZIP. However, I'd advise a complete re-import of the Master XML from the main post, as I've started using a different naming convention for a lot of definitions. I will no longer be combining shared definitions into one XML file. As a result, those of you using AME with keys will likely get some duplicate definitions on import. If you plan on doing any adding to your definitions, please look over what your doing first to make sure you not duplicating anything, or just delete everything and import the new Master XML I just added. It will be less time consuming in the long run.

When you imported the MP3 definition, the only thing you should have changed was YOUR_SITE_NAME_HERE to lespoemes. Not lespoemes.net. Remove the .net.

One of those links is apparently invalid. However, this is something I've been meaning to mention. Check your eSnips definitions and you'll notice that eSnips (Music) is turned off by default. This is because there was no way to get AME to distinguish between video and audio media at eSnips. You can either use Video or Audio, but you can't use both. Sadly, there's no way get them both to work because of the identical URL structure they use for all their links.

I had made one for Apple Trailers a while back, but it was, hrm, how would I put it...imperfect. The problem stems from the fact that Quicktime videos are the size they are. They can't be resized. So I had to have this big giant video embed for the largest videos, even if they where less then a third that size, just to accommodate the big ones. I may go back and try again, but we'll just have to see if I come up with something better.

You can do one of two things. Take the 1 off the end of that URL.

Or open your Daily Motion definition and change the last brackets w in the Regular Expression to the bracketed w in red:

http://[w\.]*dailymotion\.[com|alicet\.]+/[\w/\-%]*video/[\w/-]+

And the cursed % symbol strikes again.

Open your Poker Tube definition and add a % symbol to the RegEx like so:

http://www\.pokertube\.com/Movies\.aspx\?movie=[\d]+[\w&;=%-]*

Be sure to put it BEFORE the dash, or you'll get an error when posting a Poker Tube video. I'll try to get a new definition posted soon.

Neither the PCPlanets (YouTube) nor the YouTube (Playlists) definition will conflict with the YouTube definition, but you might need to delete the two YouTube definitions you have and try downloading the one from the ZIP file and import it.

Yes, the Flash (.SWF) definition is for files ending in .swf only. But I'll look into making one for .flv. It just hadn't occurred to me before. Note that I can't guarantee it will work, or how fast that will be. So you may want to go ahead with that conversion process if you can. However, I will look into when I get to my list again and in the order it was recieived.

I will look at all four of these sites and let you know. Bear in mind, since the list of definitions has gotten quite large, and that I go through requests in order most of the time, it may be some time before I get to them. But with that said, I do get to them, eventually.

I'm having a little trouble creating a definition for youtube HIGH DEFINITION (fmt=22, not fmt=18)

HD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?fmt=22&v=LQwC0t3rFAQ

By adding fmt=22& to the URL, you can view 1280x720 versions of the videos in flash. I want to be able to let users add this code to their URL, and have the system read it no problem...

This is what I have tried:

<object width="670" height="400">

So that's how their handling HD now. That's good to know. That may change the way I handle the next update.

As to your question, this happens often. And most of the time it's because of the addition of the ampersand (&) in the RegEx. Have it match the HTML ampersand command instead, but make the command itself optional: &[amp;]* That should fix any parsing issues.

Yes, this one is known. This is because MySpace changed their Embed Code from an iframe to actual embed code. This will be addressed in the next update.

DJ! i have searched and searched for a solution before asking you, and im sure its something simple... but....

i have imported the amazon (links) definition, updated my tag appropriately, and none of the links are working. instead of pointing to amazon, it points back to my site with the amazon tag added on the end (which ends with me getting a database error). im using 2.5RC but have duplicated this in both 2 and 2.5. any advice?

to clarify, instead of giving me a link to amazon.com/asin/tag=xxxxx,

its giving me a link to ww.mysitegoeshere.com/forums/showthread.php?tag=xxxx

Just moving the post over to the right thread

We probably should discuss this in my Add-On thread after this, that's a good point. I forget where I am sometimes.

I understand what you mean now, and I don't think I recall seeing the embed code for thumbnails videos before. Yeah, it's parsing the URL of the video so the HTML for the thumbnails gets shattered. RegEx for BBCode is tricky, but not impossible I don't think. I'd just have to give it a try.

Maybe we aren't on the same page as you said.

I'm talking about a conversion specifically for the PB offered IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards for videos.

When I tested the photobucket (videos) definition with:

https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/external/2008/12/103.jpg (http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i237/Whitey818/motorcycle%20related%20stuff/?action=view&current=100_2877.flv)

Here's the HTML rendered by the Photobucket (Videos) definition:
<A title="<img src="
href="http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i237/Whitey818/motorcycle%20related%20stuff/?action=view&amp;current=100_3043.flv"
alt="" border="0" th_100_3043.jpg? motorcycle%20related%20stuff Whitey818 i237
albums i73.photobucket.com http:>" target="_blank"&gt;<IMG alt=""
src="http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i237/Whitey818/motorcycle%20related%20stuff/th_100_3043.jpg"
border=0></A> </TD></TR></THEAD>
<TBODY>
<TR>
<TD class=panelsurround align=middle><EMBED
src=http://photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i237/Whitey818/motorcycle%20related%20stuff/100_3043.flv
width=430 height=389 type=application/x-shockwave-flash
wmode="transparent"></EMBED>

As you can see, I ended up with a broken layout. The page was rendering the default photobucket image that is shown for videos, followed by the video player rendered by your product.

I was assuming your Photobucket (Videos) definition was written just to do replacements on the url portion only, and wasn't designed to account for the embed code PB provides as shown above. (at least that's what the regex looked like)

I got the idea of adding support for the PB embed code from use of this mod:
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=166286&highlight=photobucket

It adds a photobucket image/video search and upload when making posts using:
http://photobucket.com/landing/plugin_wizard.php

And, if you search photobucket using that mod for a video, the only URL photo bucket gives you for the video via the IFRAME used by that mod, is the IMG code I listed above.

Anyway, I personally love that PB image search/upload since it gives an easy way for users to post videos to the site without having to allow users to upload attachments.

I had to shut off your Photobucket (Videos) definition since it broke the page whenever someone would use the PB code provided by the IFRAME uploader.

Hopefully, I'm explaining myself better this time.

Thanks again for a killer product.

For those having the linking problem with Amazon (Thumbnails), I have a temporary fix for you until the variable problem in AME can be pinpointed. It will not convert titles properly and will just read Amazon (Thumbnails) or whatever you've named it in the AME CP, but it will properly convert your URLs.

NOTE: If you need to add your own affiliate ID tag you must go in and change each instance of ?tag=citofgamonlco-20 to your own affiliate ID. There are three. If not, you won't hurt my feelings leaving it in. ;)

Oh, remember to delete your old one.

hi,

I´m trying to build replacement code for ebay.de affiliate links, and I got stuck finding the right regex

I need to extract the sellers name from an URL, which usually looks like this:
http://shop.ebay.de/merchant/user_name

works perfectly fine with:
http://shop\.ebay\.de/merchant/([\.\w_-]+)
then I can use the sellers name as $p1

however, sometimes ebay puts thos "W0QQ" variables behind it, then it would look something like this:
http://shop.ebay.de/merchant/user_name_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ
I need "_W0QQ" and everything after that to be excluded from $p1

first I tried to create a break at the first instance of an underscore, but then I realized usernames can contain underscores as well.

thanks in advance!

It's tricky when you run into an area you need grouped that can easily match the rest of the string. One thing you can do is check to see if the underscore in your grouping is absolutely necessary. If not, then you can easily put an optional word character match after your grouping: [\w_]*

If it is necessary, then try looking for the user name someplace else besides the URL string. Likely, it will be somewhere in the HTML of the page and you can make a ReGex match to that. In this case your grouping, the $p1 reference, will be in the Extraction regex instead.

good idea, thanks!
the username occurrs once between h1-tags on the target page, so this should do the trick:
<h1>([\.\w_-]+)</h1>

only Problem is, AME stops fetching the page content at the first occurrence of german vowel "ä", which unfortunately appears right in the title.
please compare
http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/25cent-giraffes
http://shop.ebay.de/merchant/25cent-giraffes
the word "seller" in the page title becomes "Verkäufer", and AME stops at "Verk", which in vbulletin results in this:

[ame="http://shop.ebay.de/merchant/25cent-giraffes"]eBay Verk

it´s definately the vowel because it works perfectly with ebay.com, but that´s no good to me because they´re running an entirely different affiliate program. :(

Hi guys, just a little status update for you. Looking through my PMs, it looks like I've let a lot of requests fall by the wayside. This is because support for this thread, my other threads and my other web work is continually getting more demanding.

Over the course of this week, I'm going to be going through my PMs thoroughly to make sure I address any questions I may have overlooked. As a result of this, I'm going to ask that any future requests, questions or comments be made through my two respective threads, unless we're dealing with some private information. As it stands, I've just let things get out of hand, and I find I'm forgetting PMs much more easily then I used to. The linear nature of a thread, though, is much harder to ignore or forget, and way easier to search.

This will make it easier for me to keep track of things, and I'll be able to put things on a rough, but clearer schedule then I had before. In short, this will make support better. I appreciate your patience and will get back to you soon.

Any thoughts as to what this might mean?

DJ, may be i'm stupid, but what the hell does AME with ampersands in regular expressions? I need to define "&q=" pаttern in thе middle of URL. Somerthing like "(.+)(&q=)(.*)". But it trigger only when i set "(.+)(q=)(.*)". Tryed (.*)(&amp;q=)(.*) with the same result.

What's wrong? Pattern is 100% correct, and test samples pass ok in preg debugger. I've rolled back to 2.0.2 but situation is the same. Any ideas?

Link example:
http://www.google.ru/search?hl=ru&newwindow=1&q=%D0%BF%D0%BE%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BA+%D0%B2+%D0%B3%D1%83%D0%B3%D0%BB%D0%B5&btnG=%D0%9F%D0%BE%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BA&lr=&aq=f&oq=

http://www\.google\.[\w]{2,4}/search\?(.+)(q=[\w\d%+]+)(.*) - works, but catches wrong parameter (&aq=f)

http://www\.google\.[\w]{2,4}/search\?(.+)(&q=[\w\d%+]+)(.*) - doesn't works (brokes parceing and even shows plaint text instead of link).

Digital Jedi
20 Dec 2008, 03:55
Is this the link? I notice there's a space in the one you posted.

http://www.google.ru/search?hl=ru&newwindow=1&q=%D0%BF%D0%BE%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BA+%D0%B2+%D0%B3%D1%83%D0%B3%D0%BB%D0%B5&btnG=%D0%9F%D0%BE%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BA&lr=&aq=f&oq=

For ampersands, I always have to use the ampersand command, but then make it optional: &[amp;]* I never get the links to parse unless I change all my ampersands to this.

Also, I avoid using brackets if I can. [\w]+ will match any of Google's extensions without going past the backslash /search?. Brackets have a tendency to cause a parsing error, which is what the problem with IGN definition was.

Try this instead. I presume your trying to get three groupings?

http://www\.google\.[\w]+/search\?(.+)(&[amp;]*q=)([\w&;=]*)

Vitaly
20 Dec 2008, 14:53
DJ, thanks a lot.

Your example was not exact, but very usefull. I've waisted 8 hours without it for experiments :)

&[apms;]*(q=... can skip spoilers between "&" and "q" but this one seems to works as required:

(?:&|&amp;)(q=...

Do I understand right, that preg must match BOTH link text and address in "URL"? Is it the reason, that pattern should allow both single "&" and encoded "&amp;" ?

I've attached "letmegooglethatforyou" macros. Enjoy! type any URL with google search results and see what happens :) . Expression can be a bit improved, will do it later.

In nearest days will see, as promissed, what can i fo with google maps.

20 Dec 2008, 18:09
Heh :) AME is powerful enougth, especially 2.5 with separate containers. I don't understand, why people use it only for video & music.

Investigated google maps links. Bad news is, that embedded link requires security token. Good news is, that in AME 2.5 you can make a separate container and play where with Google Maps API. Not so easy, as lmgtfy.xml, but possible.

I have proposal for AME 2.5 - until not released, there is possibility to add 1 more field to definitions: call defined php script instead regular expression to build output. For such complicated cases as google maps.

That will make a great flexibility for link parsing. I like AME concept "don't think, just post your link".

I'll certainly look them over to see if it's possible.Would be great and highly appreciated. Till now I've defined bb-Codes for these, but they are a bit complicated and users use it very rarely.

It's not encrypted and yes, I've tried it with all possible versions (with / without http://, with / without www.) (http://www.)), but doesn't work. It's no secret: That's the file I've tried to embed: http://www.trekkingforum.com/upload/Kackar-Gebirge.pdf
Go into your .PDF definition's Replacement HTML and try changing the instance of {$url} to {$p1} and see if that fixes things for you.

I haven't changed it:

Mind if I see the page where this is over reaching? It could be just the way the post was formatted.

I modified the DJ XML so that you don't have to delete the default definitions.
Also added http://uk.youtube.com to it

The reason that you wouldn't want to do that, is because the definitions that come with AME are not kept up to date on a regular basis. This is the only thread that keeps up with the definitions and updates them each time their websites make changes to their existing code. MySpace, for example, I'll be updating soon, and the stock MySpace definition that comes with AME no longer functions. Amazon has also been updated twice since the previous release of AME 2.5. So your going to want to delete your stock definitions if you want to maintain functionality. The Geek doesn't plan on updating his mod but in the event of a major upgrade, and that's if he has the spare time.

Also, my existing YouTube defintions already supports all the international YouTube sites http://www.cogonline.net/forums/showthread.php?p=370477#post370477

pdf works with {$p1} Thanks!
question: is it possible to increase the quality of the pdf? And wouldn't it be easier to define an iframe instead pdfmenot?

Second issue: wmv, I've PMed you login datas for you to see it yourself.

The quality is handled on PDFMeNot's end, so we wouldn't be able to adjust that. PDFMeNot is actually converting your PDF into Flash for readability. An iframe wouldn't necessarily give you better controls, nor would it be necessarily be easier to read, especially for those that don't want their viewer that large.

Alternatively, you could try uploading your PDF's to www.scribd.com (http://www.scribd.com). They're kind of a YouTube for documents type site and also supported in my Master XML.

Go into your WMV definitions and lets test something. I have some HTML code in the title of the definition. It doesn't really serve any purpose other then to make the title of the definition bold and italicized in the AME CP. For some reason, either your server or something in vBulletin will strip out the last few characters if the name is too long. Since I have HTML in their, it's showing up as incomplete when a video is posting and likely the cause of your problem.

You can do one of two things. The closing </b> tag is missing it's closing bracket: </b You can try and put that > back in there and save it and see if it doesn't get stripped out again, or you can remove the HTML in the title altogether: <b><i>TITLE HERE</i></b>. (Or you can try putting the bracket back and just shortening the name)

@pdf issue: makes sense, iframe would be too big for most
will have a look at Scribd...

@wmv issue: you were right: there was always the last ">" deleted. Is done automatically by vB. I've counted it: only 50 characters are taken.

Thanks

***Updates***

Okay gang, here's your first set of updates for 2009. I'll update the 2.5 thread later tonight. Hope you enjoy and here's a rundown of what's new.

WHAT"S NEW

**Internal Linking
You may notice the new set of defs towards the top of your list called Internal Linking. This set is entirely optional, of course, but will auto convert internal links using the info between your forum's <title></title> tags. It will also add a small image to the start of the tag based on your forums favicon image. (NOTE: If no favicon shows up, make a copy of the favicon in your website's root directory and add it to your forum's root directory)

This set includes defs that will convert Threads, Posts, Forums and Categories, as well as auto format a link to a member's profile page with their User Name. (The member link doesn't include a favicon image. You can add it if you want.)

This has not been thoroughly tested on a forum other then my own. So give me some feedback on if you like it or not. It also has not been optimized for people running SEOs of some kind. If you want support for your SEO you need to send me a link to your forum as well as let me know what SEO modification your running.

AllPosters (Thumbnails) et.al.
This set will convert almost all product links form AllPosters.com into thumbnails like the Amazon and CafePress definitions. There's very few products that will not convert, and these appear to be only frames, or anything that's been framed.

Also note that you can use your own affiliate ID with AllPosters if you have one just by replacing the three instances of mine in the Replacement HTML. Or you can leave it. Again, won't hurt my feelings.

CannabisTV
I'm not sure what this site's about, but I think it has something to do with botany.

Google (Search Results) (Let Me Google That For You)
Two new defs for Google include one that will convert search result links into a shorter formatted Google link.
91809Google: Star+Wars (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=HPIA,HPIA:2006-32,HPIA:en&q=star+wars)

And a humorous one that will convert links into a redirect to LetMeGoogleThatForYou.com

Let me google that for you... (http://www.letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=Star+Wars)

The Let Me Google That For You definition is a variation on the one (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=199374&highlight=let+me+google+that+for+you) created by Vitaly.

There's two icons available, the old Google favicon 91810 and the new one 91809. Save them to your images/misc directory. It uses the new icon by default, but you can change the definition to the old one just by changing the Replacement HTML image source from _new to _old.

Imeem (Photos)
Didn't realize this site had embeddable photos, so here's a small def to correct that oversight.

Wikipedia (Links)
Here's a handy definition for auto converting Wikepdia links with a little icon at the front. Save this image to your images/misc directory. 91811

91811 Star Wars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars)

YouTube (HQ/HD)
By now you should all know what this is as often as it's been requested. This will embed High Def and High Quality YouTube videos based on the URL. Most of you already know to add the special string of characters to the end of the URL when you want to link to it. However, for these to convert, you'll need to add the string after the watch?, before the v=, like so:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?fmt=18&v=FuQRmtBq-ls (http://www.youtube.com/watch?fmt=18&v=FuQRmtBq-ls)

This is the concession I had to make just to get HD and HQ videos to work with AME. Remember that this will only work if a corresponding HQ/HD video for a given URL exists. Here's the code you need for each type of video:

High Def: fmt=22&
High Quality:fmt=18&

WHAT'S UPDATED

The following defs where updated mostly because of code changes by the supported sites.

Imeem (Music)
Imeem (Videos)
MySpace

YouTube
Somewhere along the way, the Full Screen option disappeared from this definition. I've worked it back in along with a new feature. Deep Linking. Sounds like something you'd get from the back end of the video store, right? Not in this case. Deep linking is YouTube's relatively new ability to jump to a fixed time frame inside a video. In order to do this, append the URL of your YouTube video with #t=XXs where XX is the number of seconds into the video you want to jump. (NOTE: I know some of you already know of this, but what's different here is that you cannot use minutes and seconds in the URL. You have to use seconds only, so you'll have to do just a little head math.)

For example, click http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuQRmtBq-ls#t=120s and playback will begin exactly 120 seconds or 2 minutes into the video. This will not work with the HD videos, but will work for any other YouTube link.

As always, the updates have been added to the Main ZIP and the Master XML. But you can download them here absolulty free!.

And that's all! Hope you all enjoy!

Great idea to beutify google/wiki links and add icons!

Shame on me... I've missed such evident thing :)

tried to upload the Master XML and got this message (used the AME CP import):

Can not save Import because of the following error(s):
Duplicate keys found
Any idea?

One question: Is it right that you can use either Google (Search Results) or Google (Let Me Google That For You). Because how should the addon 'know' how it should convert the googlelink?

Duplicate keys are found because you have not deleted the definitions you have installed before importing the mast list. This mod won't write over what you currently have. Delete all your old definitions and import the new master. Works like a charm.

Thanks!

One more issue:

A couple of hours ago I've embedded a Google-Video.
Worked fine after uploading.

But later, paying a second visit, it doesn't show any more:
http://trekkingforum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=87589&postcount=13

But the video itself is fine at Google Videos:

Your using AME 2.5, right? The duplicate keys entry is, as TMH63 says, the way 2.5 prevents duplicate definition entires. Though you may want to wait just a little bit while I update the 2.5 definitions in my other thread, and try those, as I think your Google Videos might be related to that. I'll have to check to be sure.

One question: Is it right that you can use either Google (Search Results) or Google (Let Me Google That For You). Because how should the addon 'know' how it should convert the googlelink?
It has to be one or the other, which is why one is turned off by default.

I'm not sure if I've mixed something up.
Yes I use 2.5.

Maybe I've downloaded the wrong definitions?

So, "Third Time's the Charm" is wrong for 2.5?

confused ...

A.

Digital Jedi

It's not wrong neccessarily, it's just there's some issues with 2.5 RC1 and the way it handled some of the variables in the definitions. So the definitions for 2.5 had to be tweaked in a way that 2.0's definitions didn't need to be. Not to mention, the whole point of running 2.5 is take advantage of the global sizing options in the AME CP, which will only work with the definitions especially made for them: DJ's AME (Auto Media Embedding) XML Media Definitions for AME 2.5 (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=195884)

I've just updated the Danny's FAQ for AME 2.0.2 as well as my Definitions FAQ. They've been spread out amongst the first five posts of this thread. They cover important info that you may need if your just starting out, and explain important specifics about some definitions that you may not have know. Please review them if you have any questions.

Hi Mark,
first thanks for this great definitions which everyone here is happy with and your work is really appreciated.

I was wondering, you almost added all the sites that can come to my mind but you didn't add Expert Village (http://www.expertvillage.com) which my forum depends a lot on it.

can you please add it to the definition list here.

I will be really grateful if you can do that.

thanks :)
