View Full Version : GIF smilies vs. PNG smilies

I noticed vB4 uses GIF smilies by default, but also have PNG versions (much nicer looking of course) available. vbulletin.com uses PNG even though GIF is default. What do you like better?

I'm guessing GIF is because some people use IE6 which can't do transparent PNGs... but how many people actually use IE6? Whats your preference: worse looking smilies or gray boxes around them for some people?

.png all the way! IE6 is obsolete and soon enough nobody will use it anyway. Except maybe on universities or libraries where they keep older computers with Win95/98. But come on, what percentage would that be? 0.2%? :D Just a guess, but you can't please everyone ever anyway.
