All information is in attached text file. This hack creates a page for users to enter a friend's Email address and an optional message. Their friend will then receive an EMail inviting them to join the board. :) Feel free to edit to suit your forums to your hearts content. :)
Involves creating and uploading 1 new PHP file to forum rootdir, and 5 new templates.
Any questions, I cannot guarantee prompt response but I don't mind an Email (kingsgambit@lineone.net) with any questions, or just post in here.

Question: Would it be possible, say if the friend signs up with the same email that the msg was sent to, the person who sent it gets a referral for it?

I don't see why not N9ne, quite a good idea, but this doesn't involve any tables to memorise such things. The link they receive to the registration page contains &referrerid=$bbuserinfo[userid] in it, so referring member gets credit. :)
Next step for this might be to register user as well, and send them a username and random password in the Email perhaps?

I don't think registering the user and sending username and password is such a good idea...

So the url sent contains the referrerid link? If so, that's fine :D

One single question.
Are 2.2.8 (and earlier version) hacks working correctly on 2.2.9?

KingsGambit

AFAIK they should do, and this one is really straightforward but quite effective, and I don't think 2.2.9 has made that much changes. I have it but am afraid to upgrade with all the hacks I've played with. :)

Molok, if you mean where I think you mean, you could try putting this bit of code in the usercp template. Admin CP => Templates => Modify => User Control Panel Templates [Expand] => usercp. Find:

$privatemessages

Below that put the following code (before $forumlist):

<table cellpadding="0" width="100%" bgcolor="#0A293E" cellspacing="0" border="0" align="center"><tr><td>
<table cellspacing="1" cellpadding="4" border="0" width="100%">
<tr id="cat">
<td bgcolor="#336D95" background="http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/images/catagory_backing.gif" background="http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/images/catimage.gif" colspan="5">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%">
<tr id="cat">
<td><a href="invite.php?s=$session[sessionhash]"><normalfont color="#000000"><b>Invite a Friend</b></normalfont></a></td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td bgcolor="#13486D"><normalfont>Here you can invite your friends if they are not registred</normalfont></td>
</tr>
</table>
</td></tr></table>
<br>

:)
