This is a good mod.

Sadly this mod also adds a link to "Glowhost" at the bottom and the Spam-O-Matic header links to this thread without saying that anywhere.
Yes I understand this is a free mod, but that doesn't justify infringing people's websites lol. You made yourself look unprofessional and I personally wouldn't use "glow host" web service because of how it's being promoted; maliciously.
My immediate guess is that it's re-seller hosting for a failing web host service with alot of downtime ran by you.
Sorry if this offends you, but this is my honest, constructive, criticizing opinion that could probably help you out.

You can remove the link in the settings if you take the time and look over them then you would of seen this

I really DIDN'T notice that when I posted but I would change it up a bit if I released the mod. I still DO feel it's slightly malicious and that affects the reputation of the service slightly

I installed this program earlier this week, and I seem to have new members having a problem with the return key on their keyboard not working when posting. Makes for some long paragraphs!

Where should I look?

Thanks

StopForumSpam vs Akismet

I'm just a bit confused about the API key from stopforumspam.com and the one from Akismet. Do they do the same thing? Is one superior to the other?

The following quote makes it seem that both would be good:

Spammers that make it past the StopForumSpam and Auto-Moderation will be checked against the Akismet service.

In other words, are we duplicating a service that might add complexity and increase chance of conflicts? If we use both, are we significantly enhancing our spam barriers?

Thanks.

This should fix it -- replace the admincp/glowhostspamomatic.php file with the one attached.

Was coming back to report I was still seeing the same error. I have just replaced this and will let you know when I use it next.

THANKS!!!!!!

To answer your question the best way I know how:
Akismet is more for blogs
stopforumspam is for forums

Akismet continues to monitor your site for comments placed on blogs, not really on forums. Stop Forum Spam is a list of spammers IP address, e-mail, and user names. It only works when a member is using registration on your site.

Sadly I'm still getting this error also. Is there a "fix"?

rcull 09 Apr 2013 02:38

Merlinii,

Go back to page 179, look for a posting by vbresults. He has attached an updated glowhostspamomatic.php . Upload it and over wright the old one. I had the same problem, and it worked.

No "Spammers Denied Registration"?
by GerstnerUSA

Newbie Question - Do you have to register at stopforumspam for the API key to have user IP's and e-mail addresses checked by their database?

I have started a forum with your mod, but i don't have anyone listed for "Spammers Denied Registration".

The GlowHost log on my site shows eveyone that has registered "Passed StopForumSpam checks. Sent to vBulletin Registration System."

I have enabled IP Check andE-mail Check in the GlowHost Settings.

In the short life of my forum, I have had to manually go through the posts that were auto moderated and it has resulted in:

140 Spammers Permanently Banned
332 Spammy Posts Automatically Moderated

I compared my setting to another person running a forum, and i can't see any differences. I am running VB 4.2.0 and GlowHost 2.1.0.

Could i have installed only part of the mod correctly to be able to moderate posts, but not have registrations checked?

Thank you for your time.

GerstnerUSA 10 Apr 2013 17:07

Today, I uninstalled and re-installed the mod and I am still getting the same results.

Everyone is being allowed to register, but their posts are being moderated.

I am also running OpenCart on my website, so i know that cURL is running properly.

Should I try "or allow_url_fopen enable in PHP settings"? If so, where would i find the PHP Settings to change this?

Any suggestions?

Ok, I'm back to report my findings. It now works perfectly with no errors!

I download the file from page #179 in Post# 2684

I then replaced the admincp/glowhostspamomatic.php file with this one glowhostspamomatic.php

You need to change the settings in this mod and the default settings for modding posts
