DownloadsII
DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options. It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself. https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/external/2010/10/30.jpg Instructions & Support https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/external/2011/01/24.gif Requires vBulletin 4.0.4 or higher. Not fully compatible with lower vB 4 versions. It works fine with both the new editor in vB 4.1.4 or higher and the old one in previous vB versions. https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/external/2011/01/24.gif Read the instructions in the next two posts before installing/upgrading this mod! You can find an installation/upgrade manual in the zip package (Readme.txt). I try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if I don't ask for them. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications. Screenshots & Live demo At the bottom of this post, you can find some screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software. You can find a live demo on my own site: Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch). Though keep in mind that we are running a restyled and modified version of it. Changelog (version 6.0.9) Jelle
Help!!! I can't upload large files?? This is probably the most asked question. It's mostly caused by some default PHP settings: check "PHP Max Post Size" and "PHP Maximum Upload Size" at your AdminCP home. Then have a look at this post for the solution to up these values. Also have a look at this post at vB.com (but ignore the MySQL part as DownloadsII is only using the file system). Add-ons There are currently no official add-ons. Unofficial add-ons are listed below. |
https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/external/2011/01/24.gif Don't upgrade your live site without any precautions! (This is only when upgrading from v5 and not for clean installs or v6 updates.)
https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/external/2011/01/24.gif First test the upgrade on a test site, or at least make a database backup before you upgrade your live site. I'm not going to fix your site if it goes wrong :) https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/external/2011/01/24.gif A list of known bugs and feature suggestions:
|
First time installation / Normal Upgrade
1. Upload all files from the upload folder to your forums directory. 2. Import the product-downloads2.xml file at AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product 3. Change the permissions of the downloads directory (inside your forums directory) to make it writable (chmod 777). 4. That's it! Now you only need to set your DownloadsII settings, usergroup permissions, categories, ... And don't forget to add the necessary extensions for file uploads. Upgrade from DownloadsII 5 https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/external/2011/01/24.gif You need to upgrade your forum to vBulletin 4 before upgrading DownloadsII. Note: if you used the "Create New Thread" add-on with v5, don't uninstall it! You will loose the thread data and the uninstall won't fully work. It will throw database errors. You need to run DownloadsII 5.0.4 or higher to do this upgrade. Of course we recommend running version 5.1.1 when doing the upgrade. As already said, you also need to run vB 4 already. No data (categories, files, ...) will be lost except your ratings as there's a new voting system. 1. Turn your vBulletin forum off to the public to avoid any database errors. 2. Upload upgradetov6.php to the /forums/admincp/ folder on your FTP. 3. Open it with your browser (you need AdminCP access) by surfing to http://www.yoursite.com/forums/admincp/upgradetov6.php Follow the online steps. When it's done, go to the next step of these instructions. 4. Remove the upgradetov6.php file from your FTP and do the same with these old 5.x.x files: - /forums/admincp/downloadadmin.php - /forums/includes/class_downloads.php - /forums/includes/xml/bitfield_ecdownloads.xml - /forums/includes/xml/cpnav_ecdownloads.xml - /forums/includes/xml/hooks_downloadsII.xml 5. Upload the new files from the upload folder of this package to your forums FTP. Some files will need to be overwritten. 6. Import the product-downloads2.xml file at AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product 7. Now redo your usergroup permissions and DownloadsII settings as those things weren't copied over. And don't forget to add the necessary extensions. 8. Visit your downloads section -> Manage Files -> Update Counters to rebuild the DownloadsII cache. (http://www.yoursite.com/forums/downl...updatecounters) 9. It's ready :-) |

Lol, nice to hear that people are appreciating my work a lot by making such a first post :D [/sarcastic] No, there isn't RSS support yet. There's a mod for it for v5, but I absolutely don't recommend it as it's very poorly coded. RSS support is on my todo list. But hey, there's a report feature in this release. That was requested more :) |
Thank you for updating!
Will there be vBSEO supporting like the 3.8 version has had? |

Wow, someone needs to take a chill-pill!
In my eyes, this is one of the most important and biggest mod ever released. Jelle has worked very hard on it and it contains fantastic features with an incredible clean layout. That some things aren't working the way you want them to be can happen. Nothing is perfect. But let me ask you a question. How much did you pay for it? How much did you donated? Nothing right? So how can you make such a negative post? Show some respect for someone who spends a lot of free time giving us such a comprehensive and FREE mod. Anyway, keep up the good work Jelle! I've been using the DownloadsII mod for years now and there've already been over 2 million downloads. People love it and we, as webmasters, love it as well. So don't listen to one individual who didn't have a nice Christmas and concentrate on our posts... the ones who do appreciate your hard work and use your mod with joy every day. One thing though. How are you looking at suggestions? Do you want to expand this product or just make sure it's 100% vB4 compatible? I could post some impovements / new features but only if you have the time and energy to make new features possible. Thanks again and all that's left to say is.... wooooohooo !!! Greetings from a Benelux friend. |
Thanks for bringing this to vB4 :)
And looking at the thread ratings, looks like someone is trying to bring the overall rating down for no reason, sad :( |
Thanks very porting this top quality mod.
Clicks installed - rated excellent (as always) :) |

That query issue is on my list. I'm keeping a list of all reported bugs and feature requests. So I'm not ignoring these. Btw, I tried to fix it for this release, but I needed to put an extra option (selecting what image is used as the category thumb) in it then for making a good join query possible. More query work is on the high priority todo list, like getting the category tree in 1 query (and caching it in the datastore). This release is already faster than v5, mostly because it's using less includes. And yes, I'm making a big release together with each big vBulletin release. Is that a crime? It seems logical to me. Next to that, I didn't just "add some features" and released it. Version 6 is a full recode: all code was rewritten. There's a totally new AdminCP, advanced search, ... Quote:

And please give some feedback about the upgrade script. Is it working like it should? |
