You don't really want to upgrade to v5 period.

I think the reason the author is holding out a v5 version is the same reason many other developers on here are.

can i remove the link from GlowHost ?

Has anyone else run into the issue where the ACP main page says there are zero moderated posts, but when looking at new posts you find some?

I'm using vB 4.1.12 PL 3 and Spam-O-Matic ver 2.1.2 and am just curious to see if anyone else using this mod has run into this issue.

joeychgo 02 Aug 2013 22:41

that sounds like a problem in your moderation system, not this mod.

I have a problem. When the script sends a notification about spammer to StopForumSpam.com, then the user names that are written in the Cyrillic keyboard layout does not appear in the statistics. And I think that in general are not entered into the database. Although the logs on the site contains cyrillic usernames.

Here is example. As you can see after the script reports to StopForumSpam there are blank usernames written in cyrillic (win-1251).

DeMonViTo 12 Aug 2013 08:26

hi, thanks for the plugin :)

In the log I get the time back two hours, how can I change it? thanks

Big Engine 13 Aug 2013 10:39

My board started acting screwy, people that hadn't visited in a while and new people's threads ans posts go into moderation... I disabled Spam-O-Matic and they can post normally.... Any ideas ? I hadn't made any changes to the Spam-O-Matic settings before this started happening and never had an issue before... I'd like to get it figured out because this is a GREAT add-on and I want to turn it back on.

Thanks.

ForceHSS 13 Aug 2013 15:33

You need to change the options in it when you install just take a look at them so you understand

Did you make any changes to this mod or any other mod or any settings that vb have as default or maybe another admin did (check logs) or add any new ones

Nothing.

I'm the only Admin.

tekniques 14 Aug 2013 19:40

I am having a problem where known spammers (I checked the credentials on sfs.com) are being allowed to register.

However, it auto-moderates their posts like clockwork. (usually via akismet)

Any suggestions on why it would be passing the SFS even though they are listed as known spammers?

rory2000 14 Aug 2013 20:03

Hi,

New forum install... all setup, logged in as admin then when I go to post a new thread with Spam O Matic on it throws this error:

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/functions_ghsom.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/skodafor/public_html/includes/functions_newpost.php(554) : eval()'d code on line 5

Hi

Not sure what version I have but will install the update. One user is trying to register and we have validate them but they keep getting the below error:

vBulletin Message
Registration denied, this forum runs an active policy of not allowing spammers. Please contact us via the "Contact Us" page link if you believe this is in error

How can we clear this so that the user can register?

Thanks

Ok so I turned off Spam-O for a month and this issue did not appear. I turned on Spam-O Wed night and once again the ACP shows zero moderated posts, but clicking on new posts shows 2 posts in moderation.

I don't know if this has been happening from the start because I rarely check the ACP for moderated posts. One of my mods pointed it out and I checked it out. We've decided to ignore the issue since it's so minor and it doesn't appear that anything else if wonky.

RocketFuel 16 Aug 2013 18:58

What's up with the Link "Spam-O-Matic Statistics"

With a link to this page? Is that a requirement? Its misleading, is not the stats, and is placed in the site data, what's going on section.

If it can be removed please let me know how thanks

Ok managed to get into the settings and uploaded the latest version and all is set to original settings.

The Username part of the plug in is enabled anything else I can do?

thanks

ForceHSS 16 Aug 2013 19:34

The username part of it needs to be disabled as it is set like this when you install it. But if you dont want the same member to get that same error best to remove the xml and all files in ftp then reinstall it again and if you dont want to mod each post you will need to change a few settings in it so do look over that part of the settings.

I am having this same problem with it allowing known spammers to register or "passing" the test. When I go check manually they are listed on SFS.

It also doesn't have a single stat as blocking any spammers on the front page so I am assuming I just don't have something set right so if someone knows can you help?

Here's a couple of pics in case it helps solve it.

I updated to the latest version but what exact setting should I change so that this user can register or any other default settings to change? Is it just change the user name to disabled? What exactly will this do just so I understand.

Cheers

The user name is disabled by default so best to leave it like that. Remember for that same user to register with the same name you need to fully remove the xml and files and install it like its for the first time. As you said you have updated it

Any chance you could see something I need to change in my setup that would be keeping it from working?

Go to admincp/plugin & products/add new plugin

Product = vBulletin
Hook location = useradmin_edit_column1
Title = Submit to StopForumSpam.com
Execution order = 5
plugin php code

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

Make sure input your spam o matic code in the above code

Active = Yes

If you want I have another custom plugin that works in a different way just pm me if you want it but adding this helps

Thanks for this. However, after successfully adding the plugin I cannot see it on the left column in admincp. Should it be there?

Well I changed those things to the way you have them and I did enter the akismet key but still the same result with every new registrant being passed on through. Since it is not catching a single registration I'd think I just didn't have something checked or enabled. Under plugins in ACP when I go look at "edit" Glowhost it has no dependency checked. Don't know what that is exactly but figured I'd put it out there just in case.

Ahh, I see it now. Thanks. If the user were to post stuff would it also remove all posts and ban user just as if they didn't?

ETA: Just submitted info. I think I just Delete user now that they haven't made any posts. And they won't be able to register again since their details were sent to the banned DB.

cool_recep 21 Aug 2013 11:22

Banned users can still register. WTF?

As i have already said do not update it remove all files and install it again. This means remove the xml and all files from the ftp then install it again as if you are doing it for the first time. If this still does not work for you (making sure username is disabled) then login to phpMyAdmin and find glowhostspamomatic_log find this guys name and delete it if you need help with this pm me

Hi, I run into an issue after installing the plugin on vBulletin 4.2.1
as soon as the plugin (GlowHost_-_Spam-O-Matic_v2.1.2_VB4.zip) is intalled registration fails after part 2 which is where you enter username, passwrod and the rest of the information. Browser says the server is not responding. I even tried to disable all the features in the plugin options and the result is the same. As soon as I uninstall the plugin the registration works properly. Please advise on how I can resolve this issue. Thank you!

I don't know what has been going on lately, but just overnight I had 3 spammers register for my forum and they all got through. They wait a few days before posting, but their usernames are all garbled up.

Even if you do have the latest best to install the one above as the latest version is letting in bots so the coder has messed something up and the one I have above fixes that and a few other things

The registration is still not working.

I tried to disable all the functions of the plugin and the registration started working, but enabling any functions such as the ones listed below block the registration for me.
The IP, Username or email I tried to use is not blacklisted on StopForumSpam

Then you have other problems with either PHP files or a custom plugin. Try reinstalling all default files again from vb member area then running the upgrade.php make sure you disable all plugins from the config file first before doing this if you need one to one help pm me

Just installed this plug in due to a constant heavy spam attack.
While trying it out, a new user with a totally fake e-mail address is allowed through to be placed in the Newbie group.
Perhaps i'm not understanding the entire rules, but, i had thought that if the server for the e-mail address wasn't valid then the user would be classed as spam?

Thanks for any replies

That would depend what settings you have picked and use the updated one in my post above

What sort of issues did you find/fix? ...and do you recommend all using this mod to update to your edited version?

If you are not having a problem then you have no need to install but if you want to see what changes have been done download both and compare them

You were nice enough to take the time to fix the mod, which is greatly appreciated especially by those who needed it. But you then won't take 20 seconds to give a brief overview of what you did/fixed and just tell me to go compare hundreds of lines of code in multiple files. That's definitely your choice but doesn't make much sense.

ForceHSS 05 Sep 2013 07:40

Would take more than 20 secs to post all things done and I am busy with so many things i dont have the time

I just installed the Spam-O-Matic on our forum at rotharmy.com and now I get this when trying to reply to a thread.

Warning: require_once(includes/functions_ghsom.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/includes/functions_newpost.php(532) : eval()'d code on line 9

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/functions_ghsom.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php') in /home/content/r/o/t/rotharmy/html/forums/includes/functions_newpost.php(532) : eval()'d code on line 9

I disabled the Spam-O-Matic, and now we can post again. Can anybody please advise me on what I might have done wrong? I followed the directions, so I thought!

The SFS servers are intermittently unavailable due to server problems.

See Stop Forum Spam announcement.

Edit includes/functions_gsom.php and change the URLs around line 95+ to the US mirror.

After I installed this mod all my new registered members were moved to the Users Awaiting Email Confirmation group (even if they activated their accounts) instead of the Registered Members Group. I'm using vb 4.2.1. Please look into it and find a fix.

Thanks.

hello,

I have been using this mod for a while with tremendous success in combination with Spam hammer.

I noticed this morning that there has been no recent activity in the logs which is strange as the mod is constantly stopping spammers. I have not had any new spammers register but also have not had any blocked so was just wondering if the logs are not working suddenly.

Do I just push the restart button for this in the ACP under the log section

Seems to be working now but just not much in the log very strange, help with this please someone

hi there, I've added it to my site www.saverscene.com.au as I said before, I've set it to only block posts that have 3 or more links in them, however it's blocking every post from new users with 1 or 2 links as well.

Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

No spammers are getting through but my logs and stats are not reflecting any additional spammers blocked so this is not right.

Do I just push restart in the ACP section of the logs.

help anyone

Suddenly working again, go figure

I have this installed and it is blocking spammers, BUT I do not see Spamomatic in the moderations options as seen here http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/attac...5&d=1297118184

What do I have to enable to see this option?

Hello..

I think the "Auto-Moderation: Bad Words" should check the Thread title also, not just the thread content.

Because lately, lots of people spam forum using Their "Spam" Title, but the content is an image, and they write the spam words or links into that image, so the "Auto-Moderation: Bad Words" didnt work.

You should change your user group settings so that those new users cannot create threads or that threads are automatically moderated.

Currently the only time you can use Spam-o-Matic is to be in the thread and select the post. I'd like to be able to select more than one thread and then just have the Spam-o-Matic show up in the Moderation options. this way it will affect the thread creator so we can get rid of several threads at once.

Can you imagine if you have 500 new users / day, and they creating 500 new threads every day?

That is not the answer of the problem, the glowhost spam o matic should read the title in the "badwords" option.
