@BellyBelly, caracena is correct--I got mine not more than three days ago, with no problem. :P

@GlowHost, I've got a problem. There are several "users" that I've programmed to make automated posts for various parts of our forum. I've placed the userids all into the Spam-O-Matic: Protect Users (as a comma-separated list). They also each have WELL over the number of posts in the Auto-Moderation: Minimum Post Count setting. However, they STILL get auto-moderated.

Am I misunderstanding the purpose of the settings and going about this the wrong way? I'd like to find out what it is I'm doing wrong, soon; those posts that keep getting auto-moderated are auto-posted for good reason. X3

GlowHost.com 21 May 2011 18:26

Well, there was a bug in older versions which moderated RSS posts, are you running the latest version?

Sarteck 21 May 2011 18:32

Yessir, just downloaded it from here three days ago.

Sarteck 21 May 2011 18:35

If it matters at all about the content of the post, here is an example of one post it moderated (which I have since unmoderated):

I am not really sure without knowing how you programmed the users. Assuming these users belong to the correct group, then they should be able to post, but again I don't know how you coded them to post so its hard to say for sure.

Sarteck 21 May 2011 19:04

They do not belong to any special group--just registered users. They were previously able to post just fine.

I believe I've just found the "error," though, and it was nothing on your part. XD I used the wordlist that was linked in your setting for Auto-Moderation: Bad Words as an example. I did NOT read the bit on there which said that it over-rode the Post Count setting (I'd thought it was the other way around).

If that is the case, though, it ALSO over-rides the Spam-O-Matic: Protect Users setting, which I do not think was the intended behaviour, correct? Shouldn't that and the Protect Group settings take precedence over everything?

GlowHost.com 21 May 2011 19:20

I will have to test it, but yes, you are right that protected users should have precedence over everything.

Sarteck 21 May 2011 19:27

Ai'ight. It's probably just me doing something wrong, but do test it out when you get a chance just in case. :>

I don't really need the bad word list myself, and it does seem that was my issue, so I'm still cool.

dcgaming17 22 May 2011 04:12

so i installed this today, and i already have it saying its blocked 24 spammers. is that normal? why is my site being attacked so much?

Sarteck 22 May 2011 08:20

@dcgaming, I don't know if it's "normal," but I'm experiencing similar numbers. In the 3 or 4 hours before I installed this Mod, I had ten accounts register at my forum that were all Bots. @_@

I wasn't having such a huge problem before, so I'm thinking that lately there must have been increase in spammage, or something. (I'm not a Bot master, so I don't really know, heh.)

@GlowHost, I'm almost certain that the Auto-Moderation options are ignoring the values of the Protect Users setting. (I don't know about the Protect Groups, though, I haven't tested.) After clearing the "Bad Words" list, all of my auto-posting accounts were able to post normally except for one. That one that was still getting Moderated is exceeding the URL count in it's posts.

I am not using the Newbie Group option yet, and that might solve my problem (if I set it to only moderate users in the Newbie Group--right now, since I'm not using the Newbie Group, I don't have that option set). But the userids in the Protect Users -should- over-ride everything, not to mention each of those accounts has a post count greater than Auto-Moderation: Minimum Post Count. (I know the Bad Words list was not affected by post count, but the URL Count setting -should- take into account the post count, neh?)

If you can't replicate the error, then maybe I've done something wrong, or possibly some other plugin is interfering with yours. Let me know when you're done testing, 'kay?

donwon 23 May 2011 02:00

Yes there is an increase. I have had probably 50 today alone.

Sarteck 23 May 2011 23:17

GlowHost,

One of the account I have in the Protect Users setting is an account that posts IP information of each member as they register to a thread, and checks the user's IP against other registration and post IPs (to detect Duplicate Accounts, for the most part). These posts are made to a thread my Staff can view with the following function:

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

I notice, in your plugin, you use $this->registry->userinfo to get the userinfo. I am wondering, with my simple function above, perhaps the registry of the post object does not get set with my userinfo?

If that's the case, it would explain why it's ignoring both the post count and the Protect Users settings. Could you make a suggestion on improving my little function there so that the registry does get set, perhaps, if that's the case?

[EDIT] Each of the accounts I'm having do automatic posting use similar functions, so it does seem likely that this could be the problem.

GlowHost.com 23 May 2011 23:54

I am not a programmer so I cannot really tell you about your functions or how to improve them, sorry. As for testing, its not going to be for a while, I don't have version 2.5 set for release for at least another month due to other projects.

No. To do that I use http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=131014 and it works perfectly.
