MGC Chatbox Evo is the most ever installed chatbox for vBulletin !

It offers a new enhanced online experience to your members leading to increased time spent online of more than 25% by providing them with a new, more interactive, way to interact with each other.

Detailed features

Following is a non-exhaustive list:
  • Simple install
  • Ajax based with:
    • Fast and Intelligent chats retrieval through javascript calls to server files (refresh delay configurable per usergroup)
    • Edit/update by double-clicking on a chat
    • Interact on chats through menus and javascript
  • Many usergroup permissions to limit features according to usergroups
  • Full configuration of the chatbox display:
    Size, position on forum pages, editor layout (either top/bottom input or left/right textarea) and position, number of chats displayed, ...
  • Full configuration of the chats display:
    Authorized bbcodes selection, date/time options, avatar display, ...
  • Possibility to create channels (unlimited number) with multiple configuration options:
    • Warn user of new message when not active through blinking image and eventually sound notification
    • Possibility to select on which specific page each is displayed
    • Option to display the channel only for selected languages
    • Usergroup/User permissions to access the channel
  • Many commands available with usergroup/user permissions to access them:
    • /me: well known IRC command
    • /del: remove shouts (different possibilities of removal)

It's not really fast at all. I have it on 2 pages and have only my paid members using it.

From what I can tell it loads a ton of stuff in the background to support all the other features. It is the last thing to load on my pages by almost 3 seconds.

Again, I asked if it was a VPS site. As that has a lot to do with it.

When I host it on my OWN server, it's lightning fast. And this is only a home server with cable. And all users stated the same.

When I host it on VPS based, it really matters as the php and server config matters. What I'm getting at, is a server is only as good as the person administering it (And I'm not saying you aren't) so the settings, server load of that cpu etc matter.

I use HostGators for hosted and it's been a lot faster than most, and the cheapest (like $5 a month)...

Maybe grep it and see what's using the processes the most. Post them here and VBDev can see where the issues lay.....

I'm almost positive you can configure it a lot, but there are TOO many settings.

VBDev and I talked about a total makeover of the plugin and the future version will be less cpu intense as it MIGHT have a plugin system so you only add what features you want.

VBDev.. Anyway HTML can be used within the chatbox? I'm currently using a plugin to show a rainbow effect, but it won't display in the chatbox, but it works in the archive.

When I refresh my forum the messages are missed and I have to click on refresh button to charge all the messages again :/
How or where I can fix this? Because I see this hack running in other forum pretty well... but in my web has this problem :/
Someone help me please :'(

Sounds like a server issue here. Have you checked the cpu usage?

Its working for me.

Is it possible to replace the notification sound with the facebook chat sound?

Edit: The drop down actions are not working. Do you have any idea what to do to fix this?
The help box will not close when opened.

i have updatet and now i have the problem when i type e message in the box i become the message: you have
Your page request failed because of a lack of security tokens can not be processed.

If you think that this is an error, please contact the administrator and describe exactly what you are doing before you receive this message.

We expected to see the chat to appear in mobile and touch devices, we cannot use it there since long time !
only when we set on a PC can use it !

Hope to see this very important need ?

If you have a swf file of the sound yes.
You are still running 3.8.x right? Don't you have a close link in the menu?

Have you checked all your chatbox templates are reverted and have you tried to empty your browser cache?

@mgurain
I don't have such request in my project tools page on my site, hence it has never been filed.
What's wrong with mobile? Chatbox is too big?
