As of 23 Nov 2017 this modification has been withdrawn.

This is a cut down version based on a backup system written by Trigunflame for vb 3.0. It is a simple vBulletin cron trigged php system that does a dump of your database - either as one complete file, or as one file per table. Especially useful now that IB removed the old ACP backup option in vBulletin 4. Files can be (G)Zipped to save space.

All the options are located in the ACP in vBulletin Options >> vBulletin Automatic Backup

To install, download and unzip the files, and follow the instructions in the text file.

History:

Actually no. I cannot think of any permission set-up that would allow you to create a file but not write to it (unless its a windows server ?).

Negative. It's Linux. I have re-cursed permissions to all files and sub-directories as well and still a no-go. I'm lost!

No idea if your trying to be sarcastic or not, but if you're expecting replies at 4am in the morning you are going to be unlucky.

It sounded like he thought he was punishing you by clicking un-install. I get those all the time.

Here's a strange one for you lol. Not sure what I missed if I even missed anything, but the only backup that was made so far was the one I did to test the setup to make sure it works. The folder has been set 777 and directory is set correctly, but seems the scheduled task itself is not running. See the images attached. Am I missing something?

The "Automatic Database Backup" was the only one that was listed when I checked the "Scheduled Task Log" and my "Scheduled Task Manager" looks like this (image attached), which I'm not sure why some dates say 2003, 2009, etc. Maybe this is another vBulletin bug...

Well, that solved that lol. Thanks Paul
Tasks wont run with the forum closed.

Also, we do not provide support for third party code as a whole. If that specific task is causing a problem the next step would be to disable it.

All the best,

would it be too much trouble to add a second file format option to this mod?

I want to do daily table backups, one file for each table, as well as a weekly full database backup to a single file.

At the moment, every sunday I just switch the settings to produce one file, manually run the cron, and change it back. Just thought I'd see if I could get a more automated process added into it.

No worries if it's too much trouble though, thanks.
