vB Optimise Lite

Professional version & feature list available @ www.DragonByte-Tech.com
Priority support for Lite version is handled at the Developers Website.

What does it do?

vB Optimise is intended to optimise vBulletin software by integrating several PHP "cachers" and handling data before vBulletin. This works by encountering and handling data prior to vBulletin in order to skip the arbitary execution that would be more server intensive.

FAQ

Q: I have WinCache installed, but vB Optimise tells me it's not?
A: WinCache only introduced OpCode support in version 1.1, if you're using version 1.0.x you will need to upgrade.

Q: I'm using the XCache method, flushing doesn't work?
A: If you have XCache authentification, turn the admin option on within vB Optimise Settings, then edit ./vboptimise/config.php and specify your XCache username/password. Alternatively you can disable XCache authentification within php.ini:

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

Q: I have eAccelerator installed, but vB Optimise tells me it's not?
A: eAccelerator does not provide the caching extension by default, you will need to recompile PHP with additional flags. For more information read eAccelerator documentation located here: http://eaccelerator.net/wiki/CompileConfiguration (Specifically look at: with-eaccelerator-shared-memory)

Q: It says my opcode cacher can't store data?
A: Check to see you're using a supported Apache handler if you're using Apache: http://www.thecpaneladmin.com/wp-con...phandlers2.png

Because the $100 for the plugin itself is for the work that went into creating the plugin

vBulletin / Internet Brands charge you $170 for a Branding Free licence for your forum.
vBSEO charges you $117.

Having branding increases traffic to our site, driving sales and helps us to provide even more awesome products.

Even if 1 in every 10k visitors to your site is actually a forum owner themselves (either in the present or in the future) and would be interested in our products, that's still 1 lost sale.
If we then assume that your site gets 100k visitors, that's 10 lost sales.

10 lost vB Optimise sales equates to $1000, which when compared to a $100 Branding Free licence is actually a pretty bad business deal for us

Hopefully that makes it clearer why we put branding in our mods, and why we charge such a high fee to remove it

First of all, those aren't errors, they're just incorrect API calls that vB silently discarded.

Secondly, they're not related to vB Optimise, as I don't believe that mod ever fetches forum permissions at all

What is the affect on server memory when caching? I run a big board with a unique situation that I am trying to solve without spending a bizillion a month on hosting. In a nut shell most of the time I have 300 - 400 users online and they make 3200 - 4000 post a day. 13 days a year I have around 600 - 800 online and for about 5 hours they make about 2000 post a hour. This is causing my memory to fill up while the processor is processing the request.

I doubt vB Optimise will help you with memory usage - in fact, most opcode cachers are designed to steal MORE memory in order to avoid hitting the CPU for re-running PHP scripts.

You might be best off getting a Memcache server on a separate machine, and also stuff your MySQL on that second server

Nginx doesn't deal with opcode caching so yeah, it still has an effect

Guest caching is a Pro-only feature

That means your chosen opcache operator isn't working correctly as it's unable to store data - you should contact your host

You've posted the same question in all 3 vB Optimise threads, we cannot help you when we don't know what version you're running.
