Question about emailing users from VB

Had someone email me the other night saying they received an email first referencing his user name and trying to go to a specific website not a harmful website. The user said that he does not use that user name anywhere except on my site. I have email addresses hidden from people on my site. Is there anywhere that someone could access users emails from VB? Thanks
