Board SPAM
We get alot of SPAM on our site; new accounts require image verification and a confirmation link before psoting is allowed. Are there scripts out there automating this process or are these people really going through the effort to do this work for the few minutes the post stays on our site before we hit SPAM and they are banned and their posts are removed with one click?

Well if they are spamming on your forum and passing image verification/email they must be. But.. it doesn't sound right. How can they do that? =/
Looks like they're evolving or something. No members have liked this post.

Believe it or not there really are people sad enough out there to sign up over and over and continually spam your board

That's the thing that kills me, is listing used monitors on forums really moving their product? How many hours a day do they spend doing this stuff only to have it removed before a handful of eyeballs see it?
That so many people do it means either a) there is an effective marketing guy out there selling people on the idea that psamming forums is profitible (for him); or b) people really are making money off this kind of stuff.

This is one of the reasons I use a mod that won't let new members post links. Once a forum hits a certain page rank, people seem determined to try to exploit it. I made it easier for legitimate members to join and play by removing email verification reqirements. But, I am doing my best to thwart spammers.
It's a shame that some people are just so slimy that we have to worry about this stuff. Another really sad thing is that we seem to acquire some spam from the membership here. Somebody seems to have hacked up a vbulletin referrer spam script. I turned off my stats and haven't looked in a while to see if the clowns are still running it, but for a while there, I got spammed by several vbulletin owners a day.

Seems my board has gotten popular enough to attract the attention of spammers lately. If you want a few more to add to your ban list, try these:
aditd [email protected] prozac [email protected] StantonWariorist [email protected] Do a Google search on those email addresses if you also want their urls/keywords to add to your censor list. ![]() No members have liked this post.

Well, Andreas released a hack that you can specify certain words to look for in a post and it will automatically put that post in moderation. Would that help you at all?

There is a difference between nonsensical and conversational spam. Being that Hawaii is the Spam capital of the world I'm somewhat unaffected and unbias to it.
