Not Supported Additional Files Translations

Overview:

If you have a large number of add-ons installed on your site, then finding the settings for a particular product when making changes can be difficult if not downright aggravating, given that many authors (myself included) use a display order of 65535. This product will give you an additional option in the settings group within the AdminCP navigation sidebar whereby you can see a list of only the added product setting groups, sorted in alphabetical order.

This product has no settings of its own...once you upload the included files to your server and import the product's .xml file, you are done.

Updates:

Version 1.1:
  • Replaced asort() function with natcasesort() function.

Compatibility:

Tested and working on VB 4.2.x and may work on all 4.x versions of vBulletin.

Backup/Warning:

This product does not alter your database, however it is always good practice to make regular backups and you should make a backup before installing ANY new mod.

As always, products are USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I will provide support and do my best to help but no absolute guarantee is offered.

To Install:

  1. Download and extract the attached .zip file.
  2. Upload the contents of the "upload" folder to your forum's root directory.
  3. Follow AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product.
  4. Click on "Choose File" and browse to the product .xml file that was packaged in the .zip file.
  5. Click "Import."

Can you give an example where it doesn't sort in alphabetical order? I am simply using PHP's asort() function, and on my sites it appears to work correctly.

What do you mena by making it a shuffle?

Can you elaborate on what this would do?

Allowing the list to be shuffled around so the list can be reordered in any order you want, you can use ajax for that...

Similar to this shuffle idea was done in forum manager before...

I don't have any plans to do something like that.

Yes!!! That's it. All in order as supposed to be.

We must not forget when update xml, change and the new files in the upload folder.

Thanks for the update.

Thank you for providing examples of how the sort was not working as you expected. On my sites, all products begin with uppercase letters, so I didn't realize the asort() function was insufficient. Fortunately, PHP provides a sorting function that is said to sort "as a human being would sort things."

or can you upgrade that

original coder note: I no longer support my hacks. Please feel free to update them and release new versions elsewhere as long as I get the credit for the original modification.

Oh, I misunderstood...I thought you were asking about adding a feature to this product, not updating another one.

I don't use the product to which you linked...I created this product because the settings were sometimes very hard to locate, but the plugins I have no trouble finding because the products are already sorted, and the plugins are sorted by title within each product.

What is it that other product doesn't do correctly? And I should say, the prospect of taking another coder's code and trying to update it is not pleasant.

Hi,

What about adding a search bar?

So if I type in 'Mark', it automatically loads up all products beginning with the phrase 'Mark' (not case sensitive).

Anyway, thanks for this mod.
