Hello guys,
I love Vbulletin forums layout in the admin panel, I bought IPB but its updated to 2.2.1 along time ago and was thing about buying vbulletin but.. One of my friends told me that you cant import the users passwords, that kind of was a big turn off because users who don't have there emails anymore, so doing the "forgot password" thing will still give me alot more head aces. Is there anywhere to get around it. I love love to switch over because of the mods that you guys offer here. But I dont want to have the trouble of changing emails passwords. But someone else told me that I could set everyones password to something default but that will be a problem because, you know someone will try to be someone else and that will create 100s of headaches. Is there anyway that there is a fix or some way around it, I very good with databases and etc. But any ways around it or ways to save me headaches would be greatly appreciated. You send out an email to all members, telling them you upgraded to better forum software and in the email is the link to send a new password.
There is no other way around this password issue. No members have liked this post.

i know but alot of people are not going to get the email or changed there emails
do u know why? That is a idea but.... Changed or people not getting the emails will kill me big time. I have a programmer on my site, but why doesn't the passwords work is it because of the encoding?
if you fixed that this forum system would be the best one but ipb is fine but if every user has to change there password that is a hassal No members have liked this post.

Because the passwords are encrypted differently. There is/was no solution. I moved from IPB to vB and had to email all members. And yea, you'll definitely get some bounced emails.

Yes, just send out password reminders to everyone, just 1 click.

Best thing to do is to make a big announcement on your current forum, telling everyone to edit and update their emails, and explain why.
Give them about a week to do this; anyone who doesn't update their email probably doesn't even visit your forum anymore anyway. Also, if there are a couple stragglers, you can edit their passwords manually through the vBulletin AdminCP. No members have liked this post.

at all. In fact it's a perfect tool to delete those no longer active/'valid' members. No members have liked this post.

But, before you do the email madness, there is a mod here which takes care of bounced emails.
