Any NIN fans? Get the new album, free (and LEGAL!)
I wish more artists would get on the bandwagon...
Anyway, get the new Nine Inch Nails album, "The Slip" -- absolutely free, no catch. Available formats are MP3 (LAME/V0), FLAC, M4A Lossless or 24/96 WAVE. Download at http://theslip.nin.com/ I've listened to the album a couple times, and so far I'm digging it. Very 808'ish. As stated on the website:

I'm glad I don't have to wait five years for a new NIN album anymore. Kudos to Reznor for putting this stuff out for free. I would gladly spend $5 - $10 on this album since all profits go right to Reznor himself.. $5 per download is a hell of a lot more than what he makes from the RIAA.
This is the future for artists. Take down the RIAA. No members have liked this post.

It's a brilliant idea. Radiohead already applied a similar method as well.
I mean, take a look at Beyonce and similar artists who make hundreds of millions through branding, isn't it a bit too much for the effort given? I think all musicians and artists start spreading freely their work once they reach a certain threshold of income. The problem is how do you draw the line? No members have liked this post.

NIN are branding their own stuff for years, they do not do it for themselves, they act like this for the market of the smaller artists with no budget and no mean to publicise...
instead of directly sponsor artists with no means to produce their music, NIN is opening the path for the mega brands to act on the actual production system... No members have liked this post.
