DownloadsII

DownloadsII is a download database that integrates into vBulletin. It allows you to upload files, add images to them, create categories, link to external files - and more. It is very flexible and has many options.

It's also coded 100% XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, just like vBulletin itself.

Instructions & Support

Requires vBulletin 4.0.4 or higher. Not fully compatible with lower vB 4 versions.
It works fine with both the new editor in vB 4.1.4 or higher and the old one in previous vB versions.

Read the instructions in the next two posts before installing/upgrading this mod!

You can find an installation/upgrade manual in the zip package (Readme.txt).

I try to answer most questions asked in this thread. Please don't send any pm's if I don't ask for them. Don't forget to click the install link, so you will receive important update notifications.

Screenshots & Live demo

At the bottom of this post, you can find some screenshots of the front-end and back-end (AdminCP part) of the DownloadsII software.

You can find a live demo on my own site: Minatica.be Downloads (Dutch).
Though keep in mind that we are running a restyled and modified version of it.

Changelog (version 6.0.9)

Jelle
  • Added support for vB 4.1.8 bit processing with 'each' construct (backwards compatible)
  • Fixed comma listing for vB 4.1.8 (using "old" method)
Older changelogs are included in the zip package.

Help!!! I can't upload large files??

This is probably the most asked question. It's mostly caused by some default PHP settings: check "PHP Max Post Size" and "PHP Maximum Upload Size" at your AdminCP home.

Then have a look at this post for the solution to up these values.
Also have a look at this post at vB.com (but ignore the MySQL part as DownloadsII is only using the file system).

RS Jelle,

I apologize if this has been answered before, I did a search for "counters" but didn't see what I'm looking for.

Is there any way to set the counters manually? I am converting a static site over to vbulletin and would like to display the number of times my files have already been downloaded. Just wondering if there is a quick way to do this.

Thanks!

once all the files you want have been created, just go in and manually change the counters in the database. There is no other way.

well, usually that only applies the initial setup switching from another downloads software. I had 300ish mp3 files to set up myself at first. Ugh.

Hello,

Thank for this great mod =)

I was wondering if their is a way the users can add categorize without accessing to the Cpanel?

If their is not, can you add this feature?

Best Regards,
Sarab

Just recently started having problems with the comments on files. All files are set to "decending". Normally the newest comments are at the top of the comments list, now all of a sudden they're all mixed up and out of order but no settings have been changed. Would anyone happen to know what this could be?

For example, in the image attached, the second comment was posted at 10.33pm and the first comment at 10pm...the second comment should be at the top but isn't...the times aren't in order as they were.

Here is a little feature I created for my site. It shows all comments, created for the last 24 hours.
Use on your own risk.

1. Edit file download.php: find

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

Add BEFORE it:

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

2. Create a template downloads_lastcomments:

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

That's it. Now to see the last comments, just open *****/downloads.php?do=lastcomments

If you don't want some comments to be visible (moderator's notes), put * in front of it.

Reminder: always back up the file before editing it. I rename it to downloads1.php and do the testing first, then rename it back to downloads.php.

I think this is a bug. Missing stylevars using, for example: forum_sidebar_header_color

Is there any way (even using another mod) to prevent a user from downloading files unless he has uploaded files ?

I'm thinking to prevent people of taking from a system without having given anything to the site in question.

Any suggestions appreciated ?

Thanks

Feature Request:

Individual Category Permission access options per group/userid's?

I want to enable certain categories for only certain people/groups. This can be expanded and support a recursive (main categories/sub-cat..) permissions or just that category (non-recursive) permission.

So... it is kind of an awkward question, but does anyone know of a Wordpress plugin that can match the functionality of this? Or even come close?

My site is switching over from vbulletin to Wordpress (despite my best efforts) and I've come to really love the DownloadsII plugin and consider it essential for the site. Is there an equivalent for wordpress?
