Not Supported DB Changes Uses Plugins Auto-Template Additional Files External Content Is in Beta Stage

This mod has been rewritten for vB4x here: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=240677

This modification is based on the Video-Directory modification by Survivor and vBPoint.org.
His mod is NOT dead, its still alive and kicking; but he has informed me that he just doesn't have the time to maintain it and give support. So until he is able to work on it agian; I've been doing a series of updates.

What is this mod?

This mod adds a fully featured and fully integrated video directory archive to your forums. Users can add their favorite videos from their favorite video service to the directory. I only support a few select hosters; but the hoster scripting is XML base, so any user can create their own scripts for any number of hosting services. The old MyVideo and Sevenload scripts from Survivor's version will still work, but they wont pull in Keyword/Tagging information, nor the video length time codes.

Basic Feature Listing:
  • Fully integrated into the vBulletin user database and product manager.
  • Fully phrased and built on templates for easy reskinning and styling.
  • Fully administratable and a myriad of settings for personalization.
  • Complete customization of permissions based on usergroups.
  • Landing page for broad information and fully featured tag cloud.
  • Category profiles for videos.
  • Contribution profiles for users.
  • Keyword profiles for tag cloud.
  • Built in comment system for videos.
  • Search function for titles and descriptions.
  • RSS feed of videos.
Product Demo:
http://www.8wayrun.com/video.php
Installation Procedure:
  1. Upload all files in the "upload" directory to your forum root.
  2. CHMOD /videothumbnails/* and /includes/videoserviceapi to 777.
  3. Import the product "product-videodirectory.xml" in your Product Manager.
  4. Follow the on screen instructions to configure your video hoster settings.
  5. Refresh your administration control panel to see the new navigation links.
NOTES:
vBulletin 3.7.0 instituted a new avatar-thumbnail system. There is a high probability that you are unaware of this new system and may have failed to setup your vBulletin to make use of it. Make sure that a directory called /thumbs is located in your avatar directory and CHMOD it to 777. Then go into Maintenance > Update Counters and run the Rebuild Custom Avatar Thumbnails process.
Upgrade Procedure:
  1. Upload all files in the "upload" directory to your forum root.
  2. Take note of the information stored in Limits of Videos > General Settings.
  3. Import the product "product-videodirectory.xml" in your Product Manager.
  4. Re-establish your previous Limits settings in Videos > General Settings.
  5. Re-import ALL of your hosters and settings in Videos > Manage hosters.
    • You MUST remember to re-import your hosters after upgrading.
NOTES:
You may lose your category dataman when you upgrade. If no categories are listed after an upgrade, you will be required to rebuild your category dataman. Its very easy to rebuild it if you need to. Simply go into Videos > Manage categories, select ANY category and hit [Edit], then click [Save]. Your category dataman will automatically be rebuilt.
Roadmap for the Future:

  • Favorites
  • Playlists

Megavideo also gives me "INVALID URL", is there something I can do wrong ?

VIMEO and MEGAVIDEO both give me that. Is it me or the Mod ?

P.S: I tried adding a VIMEO Clip (http://vimeo.com/658094) but it says "INVALID URL"

Also, is there a way to add GOOGLE VIDEO ?
Google video does not have a publicly available API, and google has said they will never work on one (since google video is dead, its just youtube now).

Wegame! (there is no timecode in the API, so time must be added manually)

All these new hosters are tested here: http://www.8wayrun.com/video.php?do=...y&categoryid=4
Attached Files
File Type: xml videohoster-WeGame.xml (3.7 KB, 29 views)

Hey Jaxel,

Nice add-on. I think you should make it so that we can edit the video url so that when things get deleted off these hosts we don't have to delete everything. I think it would be really useful. Also, editing comments would be another nice feature you should look into for upgrades.

Additionally, I noticed that usernames within the comment boxes are in the "strike out" format, is there an immediate way to resolve this issue? It doesn't display any other formats of the users name, such as different colors or font textures for moderators and etc.

Take care,
QBN

Jaxel, possible possible when higher quality (HD) is available, the size of the video can be increased? I know you can use HDEF to get the bigger screen, but it doesn't seem to use the HD quality right away. Or possible to increase size when HQ is available? That you can set it in the options menu of the AdminCP. At the moment, your plugin grabs normally a very small video size which you can't set if a HQ is available.

Thanks Jaxel for this powerful Addon , I have two points to you:

1. I suggest to use JW Flash player to play video , its allow to you add many options like (One interface & using on flexible player & controls player style , can you add direct links "http://domain/vid/video1.flv" , etc)
for JW Player visit this link : http://www.longtailvideo.com/

2. How can i make hoster file to another hoster like(http://video.google.com/) or others ?

Alright. I'm going to attempt to add a video hoster, but I know not where to start.

The hoster is viddler.com

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Same here, I'm using DivX webplayer and want to know if this mod will work with it.

It would appear that the most common use for this mod is linking to video hosting sites, as stated in the lead, but I want to eliminate the third party altogether. I want to FTP the video files (in DivX format) to the forum root, point the mod to that host and away we go.

Will this mod do that or is it only for host's suggested in the lead?

Thanks for your help & mod guys.

Still show's 1.2.3

I do have a problem on some vids showing "We're sorry, this video is no longer available."
but the video is available on YouTube here is one example and the link to YouTube.

Any help on this vids giving a "We're sorry, this video is no longer available." message?

Thanks,
Stefanus
