Lite Version:

With this hack you will be able to set a minimum number of posts for your users in order to post links in posts and threads.

Premium Version:

The premium version will give the administrator the ability to further strengthen his/her forum security in regard to spamming.

As we all know, most spammers lately are human spammers who can bypass all the anti spam measures taken in the registration page and then turn their accounts over to the automated bots once registered so they can go ahead and spam away.

So imho it is much better to focus the attention and energy to combat spam on the forum side/posting of things. Spam Detector will scan the posts besides links, for any spam keyword in posts, threads, thread subjects, private messages/subjects, emails, signatures and visitor messages for users with a minimum post count set by the admin. And then the posts and threads when a spam keyword is detected are either blocked or placed straight into moderation queue so you can sort the legit posts from the spam ones.

The spam detection method is up to the admin and can be set with ease at teh Mod 's Admin Settings.

Needless to say that even if someone tries to be cute by posting normally and then try to edit their thread/s posts and sneak in a spam keyword it will be blocked as well during that action too.

Also, if a spam keyword is detected in private messages, emails, signatures and visitor messages, they will be blocked from performing those respective actions.

You can add yourself the spam keywords, which can be anything, a word, a full phrase, a link or whatever you want.

You can also exclude groups and forums from the spam detection restrictions.

Installation:

Upload the contents inside the upload folder to your forum root keeping the structure intact. Then import the .xml file at Plugins & Products->Manage Products
at your Admin Panel.

Then on the left side of the Admin Panel, you can find the mod settings where you can add the spam keywords, edit and delete them and configure the settings to your likings/needs.

If you want to test it here I have set these spam words:

viagra,

Online pharmacy,

gucci shoes

Any posts and threads containing any of the above mentioned keywords made by users with a post count of 5 and less, will go straight to the moderation queue. You can also try to post a post/thread without any of those spam keywords and then later try to edit it and sneak them in, the edit will not go through but it will also be blocked.

The same goes for all private messages, emails, signatures and visitor messages. They will be blocked too.

Nice one thanks - another layer of protection for the spammers that manage to get in.

Thanks for the mod.

I found that Report-a-Post (to a forum) was being blocked, even if you put the reported ports forum in the list of excluded forums.

I believe this work-around is working for me:
In both of these plugins:
threadfpdata_presave
postdata_presave

Before:

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

Add:

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

And at the end, add the matching

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

This add-on is preventing members from posting images.

On my forum I have members use photobucket or imageshack to host their images then embed them on the forum. I do this to minimize data storage on my server.

Is there any way you can fix this issue?

I've disabled this mod until this can be fixed.

Addamroy,
The PHP code is pretty simple, so it shouldn't be too difficult to edit it to create exceptions for links to those two sites.

I'm not much of a coder lol.

I'd appreciate it if you could help me out though, not a bad idea.

It is working fine. Thanks I really needed this hack to cut down on spammers that join and post links of their first post. Nominated it for MOTM!

Thanks
I modified the error message on mine to say "An error has occured, username. Posting link is a privilege you have not yet earned." rather than stating how many posts they need to make to be able to do it.

I would like to see this block links in blogs and visitor messages. Those are two areas that seem to be spammer favorites.
