[DBTech] Advanced User Tagging v3 (vB4)
![]() Developer Last Online: May 2020 ![]() ![]() ![]()
Advanced @User Tagging: What is it?
DragonByte Technologies is proud to present [DBTech] Advanced @User Tagging. The @user Tagging mod is designed to increase activity on your forum by allowing members to mention each other in posts when talking about them. This is done in a very easy way, very similar to how Twitter mentions people. We use @ ; as the tags, so for instance you could say: ---- This new mod from @Dragonbyte Tech; is pretty cool. ---- The @DragonByte Tech; Will become a link to the DragonByte Tech users profile, it will also inform DragonByte Tech they had been mentioned, and link to the relevant thread/post via a new area in the profile section, as well as a new tab in the shoutbox. It also allows members to tag the thread for specific other members by inputting their usernames in the tag box above the posts of the thread. This is a great way to increase your forum activity with no extra admin input required people will start to mention posts/threads to their friends, which will increase the amount of posting. This is especially useful of forums which have an international contingent (so threads posted in during the night for some of your members don't go overlooked) or forums which have a lot of posts/threads each day again to make sure that a post a person might want to read doesn't get lost in the crowd. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you like this mod please hit the ![]() Please remember to click the, ![]() What does 'Marking As Installed' do ? * It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available. * For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention. * Marking a modification as installed also helps us know how many people are using our work, giving us extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications. My guess is it's some surrounding HTML or CSS class that does it. If you use the F12 developer tools to inspect the CSS differences, that may give you an indication.

I just noticed an occurrence of a miss identified member, using @member tagging.
The tag was @bricknell, but the mod tagged @Bricknell, tagging the member name "Bri", not "bricknell". Any thoughts on why this occurred? Thanks,

Well, sometimes I had problems with some characters, they look the same, but system (vB and/or) AUT sees them differently. If I copied name, it works, but if I type user name with such characters on my keyboard, it doesn't work.
So, for the start, try to c&p name and see what happens. AUT is made so it looks for longest possible name, not shortest. So, @12345 would always be selected, even if there is user with name 123. No members have liked this post.

I'm suspicious of it being the capitalization of the "B" causing the problem.
Whilst typed in all lowercase, it is capitalized when posted. The intended UN is lowercase so "Bri" is then the longest correct match with the uppercase "B" is in place. So the question is now what is capitalizing the entry?

AUT automatically writes out name of the user after @ exactly as it is written. On the other hand, when writing user name yourself, you don't need to know exact capitalization, but you need to know exact characters.
For example, if there's user MAX, you can mention him with @max and it will work, but output would look @MAX. No members have liked this post.

If I got the premium version, can I actually make sure that mentions are showed in the main shoutbox tab? I don't want to use another shoutbox tab, which is not usually used.

I really hate your copyright links. This makes me over years to avoid all your mods. If it's LITE why you are adding such long links?

^Use that. It makes it so no matter how many dragonbyte mods you install, only one line of copyright will appear at the bottom of your website. Evidence: ![]() No members have liked this post.

When a user is tagged, where do they receive the notification that they have been mentioned? In the Notifications tab where a PM notification would appear or elsewhere?
