I am making a lot of modes. Buttons, new pages, colors,layout etc. Should the style I add have the default as parent? or should it have no parent. I just want to be able to update to the new versions as they are release without having to redo all my customizations.

No Parent

This way you get it separated from every other style & if you do changes on the Default style it won't effect it too.

If you set the Default style as a Parent for the new one, any changes you make to the Default Style will effect your new style as well (child style).
