Advanced @User Tagging: What is it?

DragonByte Technologies is proud to present [DBTech] Advanced @User Tagging.

The @user Tagging mod is designed to increase activity on your forum by allowing members to mention each other in posts when talking about them.
This is done in a very easy way, very similar to how Twitter mentions people. We use @ ; as the tags, so for instance you could say:
----
This new mod from @Dragonbyte Tech; is pretty cool.
----
The “@DragonByte Tech;” Will become a link to the DragonByte Tech users profile, it will also inform DragonByte Tech they had been mentioned, and link to the relevant thread/post via a new area in the profile section, as well as a new tab in the shoutbox.

It also allows members to “tag” the thread for specific other members by inputting their usernames in the tag box above the posts of the thread.

This is a great way to increase your forum activity with no extra admin input required – people will start to mention posts/threads to their friends, which will increase the amount of posting. This is especially useful of forums which have an international contingent (so threads posted in during the night for some of your members don't go overlooked) or forums which have a lot of posts/threads each day – again to make sure that a post a person might want to read doesn't get lost in the crowd.

Thanks
Check the Nav Manager, sometimes there's an issue creating the phrases for the nav entries for some reason.

The XML file should have nav manager entries in them, though.

Hello, this is a great new feature. Will similar be implemented for Post Thanks/Like? I purchased the PRO version and that's maybe my one pet peeve about it in that it doesn't show the post that one thanked/liked.

We'll certainly take it into consideration, but APTL works with a lot more content types so it might be more challenging to implement.

I have a mod that sends an email whenever someone posts to a profile. Would it be possible to implement it as the notification hits the profile listing for an email to trigger there as opposed to being triggered from the source of the clicking (which would entail the different content types?)

My thought is that everything comes to the profile page so either, before, right when or after, the notification sends an email that includes the same source info as what shows on the profile. This may be difficult?/challenging?/impossible? to implement but figured the suggestion would be worth a shot.

I test on my forum and I could use tag (@) but I couldn't use [mention] code. When I used [mention] code, it just show up a '@' with non-username. Also I received notify via email but it didn't show up in notification.

The [mention] BBCode is not intended to be used to post a mention.

I believe the syntax is [MENTION=<userid>]<username>[/mention]

In other word, if your userid is 1 and your username is squall leonhart, you'd use [mention=1]squall leonhart[/mention] - obviously sub-optimal vs just using @squall leonhart

In short, it's an internally used BBCode that helps the mod be compatible with non-BBCode areas
