What other streaming services are popular? We can always look into it for future versions, but from my understanding Twitch.tv is the go-to site for streaming.

thanks...worked but are there permissions I need to change? Everything installed fine and now when going to the page I get

"you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

no toggle under Admin permissions...

Yes, there are usergroup permissions you need to configure

I didn't realized what it was till i seen the web site.I'm sure my kids would love this site.. nice idea though and I'm sure the gamer community will love it. There's other like ustream http://www.ustream.tv/ and others i can't remember now..

I mean for more Website streams so a way to input Just the webpage address or Link so users can View the streams

We still need specifics, because of how the backend works, they either need apis or something to expose for us to take advantage. Twitch happens to do just that. We can pass it some data and it passes it back.

I did a quick hotfix update to fix an issue with open_basedir (and safe_mode for older PHP installations) that would cause the stream to fail to fetch.

Also, as a general note: Do not input the full http://www.twitch.tv/<channelname> URL - it's only the <channelname> part that should be added. Anything else and it will fail to fetch the channel data.

I may look into automatically stripping this data for a future version

It's nice,but I know the question will be asked,so I'll ask it now..Why are they only linking to the channels? And not embedding..

Because embedding does not give easy access to following & subscribing to the channel, AFAIK

Embedding would be doing the channel owner(s) a disservice in that regard.

If you want to unlazy, you can do some of the fancier stuff with using an API key, etc.

Remote/embedded views are shown ads as well, so its not really a disservice.

But doing so will inconvenience the admins by forcing them to sign up for that program

For the time being (and especially for a mod coded from scratch in ~8 hours), direct linking is IMO a better alternative to embedding.
