Helpful Answers has been used to record over 6 MILLION times on more than 2,000 forums. If you're not using HA your users are looking for it!

Every day your users contribute hundreds if not thousands of posts making it hard for new members and guests to separate out the best answers from those that are less helpful. The Helpful Answers System offers your members a quick way
to rate individual posts as either helpful or not allowing future visitors to understand the value of each post.

Designed to be flexible, HA has over 30 configurable settings:
  • Use image or text ratings AJAX or traditional links.
  • Offer yes/no or scaled 1-10 point ranking.
  • Turn off negative ratings for a positive only system.
  • Decide which forums are open for helpful answer ratings.
  • Audit the system and identify top users and potential abusers.
  • Ban specific members from using the system.
  • Customize the message shown after a post is rated.
  • Show a page with the top helpful posts.
  • Show rating stats on a user's profile.
  • Hide posts that rate "too low"
  • Template driven so you can customize it all for your forum.
For advanced users template conditionals and variables let you further extend the functionality to color highlight good or bad posts, include ratings in user’s profiles and much more.

Modification Installation [Must Read]:

Step 1: Upload the addon files found in the upload/ folder to your forum directory
Step 2: Install the plugin through your vB Administration area
Step 3: Configure settings & enable the mod in individual forums

You must configure settings & enable forums before voting will show up.

Anonymous Stats Tracking (optional):

By default this addon will pass basic rating data (positive or negative) to a 3rd party site for statistical purposes. Only the most basic data is captured (the vote and your site name) and no user information or specific forum details are logged, not even an IP address. You can disable this through the admin.

Mod Philosophy -- Drive Your Own Success:

All of my mods are inspired by my work in digital marketing and are designed to drive registrations, interaction or other engagement activities the core platform does not address.

Each is designed to fit a general need by providing a starting point but it's on you to decide how to make things work to their best possible outcome. Feel free to suggest what you'd like to see next but don't wait to have what everyone else has; figure out what your forum needs and customize away.

I thing, the mod is not even editing the templates to include the variable. I also tried adding it manually but it seems to be not working. Kindly, provide me any advice what to check for it to work. Thanks again in advance.

"The ability to decide which forums are open for helpful answer ratings."

I haven't been able to locate the option to turn off this hack to specific forums. I do, however, see the following as an option:

"Do Not Show on Selected Threads"

How do I turn this off in specific forums, as opposed to specific threads?

Thanks.

Forum options. The mod must be enabled or disabled per forum. There is also a bulk enabler.

Is there any way to possibly add a way to exempt certain usergroups from the "how many times user can vote a day?"

I would for administrators and mods to not be limited for example but regular users to be limited.

Hi, first, THANK you for this great addon! I think thereīs an error in the templates like this one, found in helpful_answers_topten_bit:

Isnīt there a "}" missing after vb:rawphrase helpfulanswer_top.
Same in Template helpful_answers_top_bit

And now a question: I canīt see the box under the first post which will show the most helpful answer. I tried everything in AdminCP. Iīve enabled the Most Helpful Post Block, but it wonīt work.

Could someone help me with that?

Greetings,
Peter

BTW, Ted, when can we expect a version with at least user profiles fixed? I can't wait installing it to my forum and begin spam-hunt with it

After I get the 3.8 version updated... And learn how to get a profile hook to work in 4.0. Demands demands.

So did anyone get this to work with ucash? Someone in the thread said they did, but they didn't explain how. I just want a user to gain or lose 1 point based on a positive or negative rating. Any thoughts?

Also, I am assuming this is possible but I have no idea how I would do it. I want the rating to work like leagueoflegends.com forums located here. The bottom of the posts just basically rating(+3) or rating (-1). Is this possible to do instead of the 1 out of 1 members thought this was helpful...?

There is a planned update for the 3.8 version. 4.0 update will come when I have enough useful features and/or correct the profile display bug.

Ted thank you for this wonderful mod, I have been using it a few months now.

In order to stimulate user activity, I have installed vbactivity and the points market system.

Is there anyway to make it so that my users get points to their reputation in vbactivity? Right now even though I have helpful answers set to give reputation, it does not calculate rep points.

Dragonbyte Tech (maker of vbactivity) said this about the coding:
That applies for when people give eachother reputation using vBulletin's own reputation system.
It will support the Helpful Answers mod only if that mod was coded to add reputation in the same way vBulletin adds reputation.
Can this be achieved somehow?

Thanks
