Trying to help a friend sort his banner ads out

Hi Everyone

Does anyone know of a Banner add rotator hack that rotates banners without refreshing the page, What i mean by this is whislt people are viewing the forums, the banner changes on its own after so many seconds.

This way you can rotate banners more often, get a higher amount of banners displayed, may tempt advertisers to pay to advertise because of the higher impressions.

I've done a search but couldn't find any which change after so many seconds as oppose to changing upon refresh.

Is there such a thing or am i talking out my backside again (No funny comments please guys )

Cheers

Ok guys, been playing around with a bit of javascript, not working 100% yet but i'm gonna press on with it, just tweaking the part where the banners change, little did i know you need to set the time delay in milliseconds as oposed to just seconds, ie 8000 = 8 secs, 10000 = 10 sec's

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=179083 Will do it. But it doesn't have great documentation, and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone that doesn't need auto-refresh.

Thanks for that

Just had a look and its quite a large hack, and full of different variations which is great, The auto refresh didn't seem to work on the demo, the ads changed only when i refreshed the page.

What i'm looking for is a small setup, which can paste to the header or footer, javascripts ok as long as its clean and not too long winded, but most important, it changes after so many seconds as opposed to having to refresh the page, that way somone could view around 60 ads in around 10 minutes, the more ads shown the higher the clickthrough, especially if you have an affiliate account

I've got a few ideas i'm working on, and testing as we speak

I've added 4 test banners to the header of my forum Just under the Menu Tabs and have them set for 8 seconds each, take a look and let me know what you think http://www.ukbusinesslive.co.uk/forum

No need to re fresh your page, the banners change themselves

Just a quick update, you can now try the finished hack here http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=202010 works from 3.5 upto 3.8, I've added a few banners for trial purposes in the zip file, You can use the same hack more than once, say in the header, In between forums, in the footer your choice.

theres a file for Affiliates,(Commision Junction and others) sign up to one and start earning real money

You can also change the Banner size and display time to use Skyscraper Banners for side columns.

Have fun
