I don't know of any importers into vbulletin 5.. and I doubt there will be any

You should be able to import into vbulletin 4 and then upgrade to vbulletin 5.. although I would suggest just sticking with vbulletin 4 at that point.

You can find upgrade instructions on Vbulletin.com and do a search here for Impex to find the opensource version which will allow you to import smf.

Well it took me a few seconds to type Impex Vbulletin into Google.

https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=316322

https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex_installation

Here is the manual which covers everything.

It appears to me this error when I click start

Remove ImpEx once import is complete and final
ImpEx build version : 1.104
Database cleanup & restart ||| Online manual

Using ImpExConfig.php for target config.

Altering tables
ImpEx will now Alter the tables in the vB database to include import id numbers. This is needed during the import process for maintaining references between the tables during an import. If you have large tables (i.e. lots of posts) this can take some time. They will also be left after the import if you need to link back to the original vB userid.

If you have all red tables, i.e. none correct this could possible be your table prefix :

smf_adk_down_

Did you add your database prefix? Be careful and make sure you make a back up.
